Well, I have promised him that if he ever comes to visit, I will take him on a bakery tour of Ann Arbor and Detroit.
I was going through a rough patch for awhile, the last six or seven weeks have been somewhat tough on me and my family between various illnesses, injuries, etc. Following my father's death I was pretty bad for awhile...wasn't eating or drinking unless someone gave it to me, was only either curled up in a ball in bed or was at work, had to even literally force myself to read or get on the internet...I seem to be working myself out of it a little bit the last day or so. I have forced myself to eat regular and healthy meals, have gotten up at my normal time and have tried to move around a bit, took some benadryl so I could sleep at night, and have been making myself drink big glasses of water. This all seems to be helping. My friends have been wonderful -- Damelon was very kind last weekend, reminding me of all of the great things in life like sunshine and my children. And Danlo offered to kick the butts of everyone who has been mean to me lately, though I turned down his offer. Even Calibaby has been nice, the last couple of days he came home at some point in the day to make sure I was eating something. And he says he will come to my father's house with me to help, and he seems to mean it...
I think I might still have some bad days here and there, as grief won't go away in just a few days, or even a few weeks...and when I go down to clean out my father's house in late April I might feel pretty bad again for awhile -- but I hope the worst is over now...
And Damelon is right. While there can be great sorrow and sadness in life, there is still joy and beauty and love, too.
