Yes, the four headed cable will do wonders, Moonwatcher. I do not know if I ever even posted about it, but I got my husband a sound system and one of those dvd players that uploads the films on normal dvd's and turns them into the equivalent of blu-ray. The first time I watched one with the better picture and sound I was sharply reminded of the first time I heard a music CD - sheer and wonderful awe. 8)

I will try not to be jealous of your long weekend, Av.

For about a week now we have been having sand coming out along with our water in all of our taps. Needless to say, it is disgusting.

Today we got a well company to come out and check our well. We have to have a new one dug - at a tune of at least $5000. If they have to take out the garage floor to run the water lines, it will be more than double that. :faint:

Luckily one of my neighbors is kindly letting us use his showers. :hearts: He is a great guy, and his boyfriend is a really lucky man. :D 8)

I have no experience with wells, so didn't know this kind of thing happens. I guess you're pretty much at the mercy of the well company - it can charge whatever it wants. But hope the new one will last you!

When you say well, you mean a ? Lots of people use them here, but almost always as a supplement to municipal water.

The fun never stops, huh, Duchess? :( Sorry to hear about your well woes.

Nothing interesting happening here, unfortunately. Or fortunately, I guess, depending on your point of view...

Hyperception and I went to the book sale today.
I scored a signed copy of Martin Yan's Yan Can Cook Book, The Isle of Glass, book one in The Hound and the Falcon fantasy series (I love that series; light reading but I still love it), a new-to-me book called and two of Jean M. Auel's Earth's Children cycle: a hardbound edition of The Plains of Passage and a soft cover of The Mammoth Hunters.

Hyperception focused on getting textbooks to refresh the subjects he is marketing himself as a tutor of. He found seven textbooks, which he puts a value of around $400 on, even if found used in a college text book store. He then also found an unopened CD of Indian-style music he decided to give a chance to.

It happened to be the last day of the sale, when all items are a dime.
So, we got those twelve items for $1.20.
All in all, a good day.

So this morning, my attorney who's in India e-mailed me to ask me to attend to a package that's been sitting on the floor of his office for several weeks. It contained a photo in a broken frame. The story goes that my boss admired a photo that our client had hanging on her wall. It's a burning torch lying on a sandy beach in the dark -- pretty cool, huh? The client arranged with her brother to have a new print made and framed, and presented it to my boss. Boss was rushing to catch a plane and the frame wouldn't fit in his luggage, so he asked someone on our team in India to handle getting it shipped back to the States. That person handed it to someone else, and the eventual "packer" basically just wrapped several layers of bubble wrap around it and dropped it in the mail. Needless to say, the frame broke and the glass shattered. When it got here, Boss saw the pieces of frame sticking up out of the bubble wrap and just chucked it into a corner without opening it.

Now the giver of the photo is coming to our offices for a meeting in a couple of weeks, so Boss asked me to see about getting the photo reframed. Unfortunately, the shards of glass thoroughly scratched and gouged the print. So I've been spending time today getting quotes from imaging places to have the photo restored and reframed. The restoration alone is likely to cost more than $100. But hey, it's all about client service....

Yeah, that sounds like situation normal: all f****d up.

My turn: Near the end of my work day (of course), I learned that our "new" building sprung a major leak in the basement - just as we're having our first real rain of the spring season. I sucked up as much water as I could and was ready to call it a day when the security guard alerted me to another area of the basement that was even worse - it wasn't leaking water, it was pouring - a nice, diabolical stream coming from a pipe. It wouldn't have been that bad, except that the water was pouring into a space where all sorts of electrical panels were in place. At that point, my boss called the building engineer to get his butt over. Meanwhile, I again got the shop vac and sucked up as much as I could. Then I got the heck outta there before anything else could go wrong. It's in the building engineer's hands now (and the night staff's). I wonder how things will look in the morning. Oh, and the forecast calls for showers right through the weekend. The fun never stops here!
