Sounds fun, danlo!

Today I found a really good bargain.

Walgreens is currently clearancing out their photostamps.com kits that are used to create personalized postage stamps. The ones at my Walgreens are marked "Last Chance $13.99," but ring up for $7.19. Included in this kit is a coupon code for 20 free postage stamps and free shipping. With FL state sales tax, I paid $7.68, or 38.4¢ per stamp.

I believe these are being clearanced because the pictures on the packaging for the stamps show the 42¢ stamps instead of the current 44¢ ones. However, once you go to photostamps.com you are given the option of setting the postage amount, with 44¢ being the default setting.

Now, to make a good deal even better...

Log in to upromise.com, a college savings program. If you don't have an account, nor a child/ren in mind to name as beneficiary, I'll be happy to send you an invite to set up an account for Beorn, but feel free to create an account naming anyone. It's free to join. The best part is that you can withdraw the money anytime, even if it's not going to be used for education. It's been around a long time and is reputable.

Once logged in, do a search for photostamps.com and click on "shop." This will then take you to the photostamps.com page to create your stamps. Once your order is approved, in a month's time or so upromise will put $8.00 in to your upromise account. Yes, more than I paid for the kit. So, I am getting the customized stamps you see pictured, and I am being paid 1.6¢ per stamp for ordering them.

I only bought one kit, so far. I have heard upromise is so far not limiting the number of times they will pay $8.00 in to your account. From what I have seen, the CD in the kit is not needed at all; you can go straight to photostamps.com and create your stamps. However, each coupon code works only once.

If you decide to look for these kits, I hope you find them. I will be heading out to look for more shortly. :D

Personalized postage stamps? I had no idea such things existed.

It was, and much more important than Menolly thinks. Anyone can go to the little carnival atmosphere and watch the dances, but you have to be invited to partake in the feast, so it was quite an honor. Best red chile I've ever had in my life-the bread and posole amazing. The company was great with people moving in and out of the houses. And the house of origin's patriarch was an elder of the kiva, and even though they low-key everything he was pretty dang important.

I don't understand, but whatever.

Anyway...

Today I am feeling a bit hopeful.

We switched from dial-up access to DSL a little over a year ago, which has been awesome. Getting to watch online videos, etc. Excellent. However, whenever it rains, my connection keeps dropping. Especially if a phone call comes in on the landline, even though we have filters on all of the landline phones. We rent a pretty old duplex, and never really followed up, fearing if it is the internal wiring that we would then be responsible for replacing it, or at least have to start bugging our rental management people to replace it. Since we are month-to-month renters with no lease, we prefer to lay low on things like that.

A few months ago the DSL totally dropped out for over a day, so I called AT&T. A workman came and did something to the box on the pole outside the property and while I still have drop outs during rain, it hadn't gone completely down since. About a month ago we lost our landline for a few days, yet the DSL still worked. Again, a repairman came and worked on the box on the pole and we haven't had a problem since.

However, over the weekend we had some pretty good rain, and the DSL dropped out several times, finally going completely out on Sunday afternoon. I called AT&T help desk, and they did some line testing. They finally said they would send a technician out...Tuesday morning between 8 am and noon. I was not a happy camper, but agreed.

Sometime during the night Monday morning, DSL came back up. But, I was tired of this, so didn't cancel the appointment. The technician just left, shaking his head...

Apparently, the housing is completely gone from the box on that pole that has been worked on.; it is only wrapped in some sort of plastic wrap. Every line to the duplex he tested is shorting out on the test. As much rain as we get here, he's amazed we have the connectivity we do have. But, he doesn't do the sort of repairs that need to be done and has placed a call in to the line repair department for us, and reconnected us in the mean time.

So now we wait.
But perhaps this issue will finally be resolved.

One of Tam's nursing assistants is Jemez we were invited to her Mom's house. I heard a number of folks speaking the language, very beautiful, kind of fluid Navajo, if you can imagine that.

Menolly doesn't understand-that's OK, since I'm not allowed to give her grief anymore the least I can do is confusion :P . (By the way how did you wheedle your way into Jerelak's FF League? :? ).

Good luck with the line repairs, Menolly. I, too, prefer not to bother rental management unless I absolutely have to.

My turn to rant. After work this afternoon, I caught a bus to a local aviation museum (basically a converted hangar) to see a WWII-era Avro Lancaster bomber - it's one of only two remaining "Lancs" that still fly. Today was my only chance to see it, as it flies to Edmonton in the morning. Add to that, the museum closes at 7:00 PM. So I get there just after 6:00 PM, and see a long lineup. Okay, I figure I'll still have time for a decent tour of the plane and take pictures. I don't get to the ticket booth until 6:30. I pay and go in...and see another long lineup leading to the Lancaster, which was parked just outside the hangar. Fine, I resign myself to the fact that I'll get only a short time to tour the plane. Then at 6:45, one of the staff comes over to the lineup and mentions that you only get to go inside the Lanc if you previously purchased a special ticket apart from the regular admission. I had not been informed of this at all when I was at the the ticket booth. So in effect, I had wasted my whole time standing in that line, thinking I was properly following the rules.

So I never got to tour the bomber. I'm proud of Canada's aviation history, but I doubt I'll ever visit that museum again. What a gong show.

Wow, you would think that if nothing else they could have a hugeass sign up at the ticket booth stating that you need an extra ticket to see the special plane. The booth attendant asking if you want a ticket to see the special plane would be even better.

That's too bad, MW. :( I'd be ranting too.
