Ouch, MW. I went back to contacts last fall, but have been wimping out and wearing my glasses almost every day lately. Too lazy to get up early and put them in before I go to work....

I don't put in my contacts that early in the day - did it once and didn't feel comfortable at all. Don't know if that's due to the nature of my contacts: they're the hard kind, not soft. But I like 'em because they last and last, so I don't have to throw away money on disposables. Of course, ahem, if I happen to lose them, the replacement cost is more painful. Which is why I'm usually very diligent about my contacts. I think I've been pretty good - hadn't lost a lens for a number of years - until now.

Still fighting a nasty chest cold. On Friday I went in to the hospital and got blood drawn in preparation for my next round of visits with specialists, which will be on Tuesday. :? At least I have a sick day on Tuesday, so I can get some extra rest. :)

Well, went in to the endocrinologist yesterday. My hyperthyroidism is actually worse now (according the the blood tests) than when they gave me the radiation treatment last month. They did say this might happen, as the thyroid releases all of its stored hormones as it dies. So another six weeks without any physical activity to protect my heart. Another six weeks of propranolol. Another six weeks and then I get to go in for another round of blood work and specialist visits. :|

And yes, I am sort of sad. I had hoped things would be on the upswing by now. :(

Likewise. Doesn't sound like any fun at all. :(

I am not supposed to do anything that increases my heart rate to any great degree. :( That is a large range of activities. :(

Heading to the red Wings game tonight. :sky: :sky: :sky: :sky: I am hoping that the excitement does not give me a panic attack, and that I am able to handle walking up all of those stairs to my nose bleed seats. :?

Have a great time at the game, duchess!

Banged my thumb at work today. Note to self for future reference: do NOT hold onto cupboard door edges when swinging them shut - pain will result.

Also got my T4 slip today, so I can now do my taxes. I got a nice refund last year, and I'm hoping for another this year.

My replacement contact lens also finally arrived. It came from the US, which accounted for the long wait. But I'm glad to have my "eyes" back!

Everything went well last night. No panic attack (I was concerned because all four I have ever had took place in the last year and three of the four came because I was excited and happy - go figure  ). It turned out that the seats were only in the ninth row of the upper level, so only 1 1/2 sets of stairs, so were not too bad to get up to. :)

We parked on the street for free in the Greektown area of downtown Detroit (this is one of the main restaurant districts), ate dinner and drank hot tea with lemon at a Greek restaurant, and then rode the People Mover (the monorail that snakes through downtown) over to Joe Louis Arena. We got there in time to watch the teams warming up. The game was great - it was Kris Draper night to celebrate his recent 1000th NHL game. The Wings beat the Predators 6-2, but the Preds goalie was actually pretty hot and made a bunch of spectactular saves, so the score could have easily been a lot worse than that. Our beloved Captain, Nicky Lidstrom, scored two goals. 8) There was even a good hockey fight - involving Marion Hossa of all people. Who ever knew he could throw punches like that?

After the game we climbed back on the (very crowded) People Mover and went back to the car and drove home in the rain and the snow - but the roads were only wet, not snowy or icy. 8)

Today I am exhausted beyond measure, but happy. I had a vacation night from work last night, and only have to make it through work tonight and then will have two days off to rest and recover. :)

This is what they play at the Joe when a game becomes a blow out:

Good to hear that you got your contact, Moonwatcher. :) And the income tax refund which will hopefully come without any problems. I know at least one state (Kansas) apparently does not have enough money to pay people their refunds - that is pretty bad. i am really hoping that will not spread around and infect other places, too.

I am really relieved the propranolol did its job last night and kept my body on an even keel. Now I do not have to worry (I hope) about having a happiness triggered panic attack at Fist's wedding. :D 8)

Good for you, Duchess! And good news about your contact, MW. 8)

Have I whined here about my cold? No? Well then! I'm snorfling into week 3 and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. :( I have kind of suspected all along that it might be a sinus infection, so I'm going to the doctor in the morning.

Speaking of hockey, I gather Ovechkin made a fabulous play last night against the Canadiens. I haven't seen the play, but I heard about it on the radio this morning. He caught his own rebound off the boards, got tripped on his way down the ice, shot as he was sliding, and the puck went in. Un-freaking-believable.

 OMG! My dyslexia got me again! I kept seeing that name on Fantasy Sports pages and thought it was a joke! I thought it was a made up guy who always was sent to the penalty box for "Overchecking". ROTFL at himself!!!
