We did yard work all day today. This spring/summer had been wet and stormy, and we finally had a nice day when everyone was home. We spent a lot of time digging baby oak trees out of flower beds - darned squirrels and their acorn stashes!
We're thinking of going to the Taste of Detroit at Comerica Cityfest tomorrow, but might end up doing more yard work instead...

It is almost like a rain forest around here right now, with lots and lots of weeds growing...
The way a Taste of (insert city name here) works is that a bunch of restaurants from the area set up booths in the steer/park/festival setting. You buy a strip of tickets, then wander through the booths seeking out yummy things to eat. A small appetizer might be two tickets - a steak dinner with all the trimmings might be twenty. Most people graze on smaller items of different ethnicities just to get a taste of each. Since Detroit is such an ethnically diverse area, there is everything to pick from various Asian food booths to Southern soul food to Middle Eastern food to eastern European food to Carribean food to Ethiopian food, etc. Live music plays on a couple of stages while you wander around and eat.
On the other hand, while going would be a yummy good time, I really have a hankering for planting some lillies (I have developed a passion for lillies over the last 2-3 years) in the places where we dug out banks of baby trees...

edited to add:
I was planning on typing something up for the Donaldson forum on one of his short stories and typing up something for general science fiction today on one of Arthur C. Clarke's short stories...but real life got in the way today and probably tomorrow - and on Sunday it is back to work. But you guys can expect both sometime in the next week or so, as time allows.
After working in the yard, I fell asleep on the couch for a few hours.

Getting old.
