Again?! That's a big book... Further up, and further in!

"Come to Elfhand," the troll said.
The child thought for a while....
"N-no" said the child
"Why not?" said the troll.
"Mother made a jam roll this morning," said the child.

They've both read it at least twice now. They really like Harry Potter.
I am reading another short story collection, this one by Zelazny, called The Last Defender of Camelot. Some of the stories seem to be more science fiction, and some more fantasy...
I've been reading lots of short story sollections lately -- Otherness by David Brin, World Enough and Time by Dan Simmons, now this one by Zelezny. The stories seem to fit into my busy schedule easier than a large novel does. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

I was reading the Silicon Mage, by Barbara Hambly but I finished it. Now, I'm reading Icefalcon's Quest. I refuse to have a battle of wits with someone who is unarmed.

How was it? And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Ahira, Ahira, he called out silently to the sky. Ahira, Ahira

Right now I'm re-reading some short stories by HP Lovecraft. Currently on "The Shadow Over Innsmouth". They are great bed-time stories!

I love how many people went back and re-read Harry Potter after reading Order of the Phoenix. I did the same thing! It was great.

Next I was planning on getting some ideas for something new, so I shall be searching through the hangar...

I just finished The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold, a masterful science fiction writer who is just starting to write some serious fantasy...it was really enjoyable.

I started reading LeGuin's The Furthest Shore today. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

A lot of time I'll work on two books at once -- a mass market paperback I can carry around in my purse everywhere I go and a hardcover or trade paperback (a lot of history books are in trade paperback) that I read at home...so in addition to my little paperback The Farthest Shore by LeGuin, which I have been reading at work, I am also working on Dawn of Amber by Betancourt. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

I just couldn't get into Farthest Shore and didn't like The Tombs of Atuan at all! I dunno why, A Wizard of Earthsea was awesome. Further up, and further in!

I'm from Boston. I dont pronounce my R's. I call a garbage can a barrel, a liquor store a packie, a water fountain a bubbla, a milkshake a frappe. I root for a team who has not won a World Series since 1918. To me Cape Cod is a little piece of Heaven down here on Earth. The best place to be on a summer night is Fenway. I ride on the T. I know better than to swim in the Charles River. I yell YANKEES SUCK! when the Red Sox are playing the Tigers. I am a Bostonian and I'm wicked proud of it.

Everyone's tastes are a little different, my Lord Necromancer. Helps make the world a more interesting place.

I just finished Betancourt's Dawn of Amber, and still working on The Furthest Shore (couldn't read much on my breaks at work last night because people followed me around and wanted to talk to me)...started reading Gregory Keyes's The Briar King this morning, and it's pretty good so far. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

I am still working on The Farthest Shore, work has been nutso lately.
I am about to start reading Betancourt's Chaos and Amber.
Calibaby has started reading the book I just finished, The Peshawar Lancers.
Bigredbulldog is reading The Dawn of Amber.
Mr. Sunshine is reading Diana Jones's The Chonicles of Chrestomanci, a four book fantasy series about a fluffy orange cat who is the greatest sorceror on 12 worlds! I think I'll have to read it when he is done! Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

I am about to start reading Garth Nix's Abhorsen Trilogy. I am looking forward to it, as I know how much MsMary and Foamy both like it. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

Perhaps I'll come for you myself some night. I'm starting to confuse myself with the number of books I intend to read...

I'm just about to start Faith of the Fallen (as soon as I get it - comes tomorrow), then it's Pillars of Creation, then I'm gonna take a look at The Curse of Chalion (spotted it in the shop today and can't resist the prospect of a book that isn't part of an endless series). After that I'm considering Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, then perhaps the Dark Tower series... There are others, but i can't remember them...

Guess I'm really just killing time while I wait for the next books from Jordan, Donaldson, and Martin.

Well, as I posted in the Martin forum last night, he has updated his website and he hopes to be done with A Feast For Crows by the end of the year. I'm not sure how long it will take before we get the book in the stores after that, though...

A thread was started about Jordan recently here, sounds like he's taking a bit of a break from WOT, he has expanded his short story from Legends into a novel and that will be his next release. He's been working on that series for many years now, so hopefully the break will reenergize his work...

I recently read The Curse of Chalion and thought it was a good read. It involves a curse on a royal family, the attempts of a broken man to come to grips with his life, and involves an interesting magic system that involves gods and demons...there is a loosely tied-in sequel, following one of the minor characters, but it certainly doesn't seem to be a series -- both books stand, more or less, completely on their own...and they have a nice Spanish flavor to them, unusual in fantasy. ******************************************************
