Well, one of the things I was thinking was time consuming did turn out to be that way. Bigredbulldog had his high school senior pictures taken today. I got up this morning, ate breakfast, helped him pick out which clothes he wanted to wear, de-cat-hairded and ironed the clothes, then went with him to the photography studio. Everything went well, and the weather cooperated for the pictures of him in his varsity jacket next to the river which runs through a beautiful park in the middle of town. For the studio shots he wore his wrestling warm ups, a nice sweater of his dads, the soccer sweatshirt with his name embroidered on it, and a suit (depending on the picture).

Tommorrow Mr. Sunshine and I have to run some errands for Bigred while he has to work with his father (we have to buy him a couple of things for his trip and also run some errands in general). Friday night we'll all be heading to Detroit for dinner at Greektown and a Tigers game.

Saturday we will pack up for Bigred, and I will give him a crash course on how to use his new digital camera.

Sunday will be the last minute packing, and I will be working.

Monday I get to drive my baby to Detroit Metro airport and watch him fly off to another continent! I will probably have to call in late to work in order to stay with him until he goes through customs.

Its so cool that the kids have a chance to visit france and Spain as a school trip. We sure never got a chance to do anything like that in high school. ******************************************************

Well, its certainly been an intersting weekend. Bigred crashed his little truck yesterday, but he's OK, which is the only thing that matters.

We have to pack up for his trip tomorrow, but I think we have everything we need, other than perhaps a box of band-aids to send with him for his cut arm.

Monday he will be off for ten days. I know I will miss my big guy, but its such a cool chance for him, and I know he will love it.

Every time I come here I keep checking to see if any of out missing threads and/or posts have come back, but doesn;t look as if any have yet. Ah well, maybe next time I drop in... ******************************************************

My son is off in France now. The phone call this morning was very upbeat, and the kids are all having a great time, other than Paris being ludicrously hot.

The truck will take over a month to fix, and cost more than $6000, though with collision insurance, I only have to pay $580, thank God.

This weekend will mark the one year anniversary of Elohimfest. Thanks again to danlo and his Lady for making it possible. Wish I could be at the Grand Canyon with you right now, buddy, watching the condors and sitting on the Rim in the sunshine. ******************************************************

Smoke free for one week. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Sounds like fun, Duchess. For our senior trip, we went to Lake Lahontan... a shallow, muddy reservoir. ________________

I don't think they have a senior trip as such. They do an unoffical "senior skip day" where a lot of them go hide in the corn fields and drink beer...and other kids sneak off to a huge amusement park down in Ohio called Cedar Point. Knowing my kid, when he's a senior next year, he will want to stay home and play Nintendo or watch movies, maybe let me take him out for lunch...he's as much of a home body as his boring mother...

This trip is for the third and fourth year language students. The kids taking French help the kids taking Spanish while in France, and vice versa in Spain. ******************************************************

How is the quitting going, Syl?

I am a bit bummed out. My son was supposed to get back from Europe tonight, but the last leg of his trip, from Newark to Detroit got cancelled due to some bad weather in Jersey. I won't be able to see him until tomorrow now. And God knows where his luggage will end up, as he will have changed countries and airlines three times in the past 24 hours.

I really miss my big guy.

Even went grocery shopping before work today and got him all of his favorite things to eat, like fresh, ripe cherries and raspberries. And Oreo cookie ice cream. Maybe some will be left by the time he gets home tomorrow.

My son is finally home.

I had an interesting day yesterday in picking him up.

The last leg of his flight home, from Newark to Detroit, had been cancelled due to bad wether two nights ago. It had been rescheduled for yesterday morning.

Well, I work second shift, so do not do mornings well. I got out of bed, went to the bathroom, got dressed, grabbed a slice of bread and a can of pop, and dragged my butt out to my vehicle. All the way to the airport I was chanting you-must-stay-awake-while-driving-you-must-stay-awake-while-driving to myself.

Never got the message through the phone chain that the morning flight had been seriously delayed over the weather, too. Luckily, another mother from the high school soccer team was also there, and we sat around in the baggage claim area (where you are supposed to pick up passengers at the Detroit ariport) and waited. Another flight had come in from Newark, and the luggage was going around and around the carousel in front of where we were sitting. Everyone around had claimed their luggage, but there was still a lot of it riding around and around...I noticed some of it looked like Bill's, got up to check -- and about half of the school group's luggage, including these weird long skinny boxes were there!!! The other mom and I rescued the luggage, and were sitting there for a few hours with about thirty bags, boxes, and suitcases.

The kids did eventually get in, hours late. I had not realized how bad the storm was, as I was below ground. But it was bad enough to uproot big trees, and had torrential rains. I am really really glad that the kids made it in OK!!!

When he got off the jet, he came running up to me and threw himself into my arms. He was very hyper. "MOM!!!! You would LOVE France!!!! Everyone there had such kind looks on their faces!!! All the people were SO NICE!!!!!!"

He had a great trip. In Paris they saw the Eiffel Tower, the gardens of Versailles, the Louve, Notre Dame, and other churches and museums. The last day there the kids were out shopping when a huge storm moved in with heavy rain. The ceiling in the store they were in started leaking, so they got to help the shopkeeper move his goods around out from under the leak. They actually got a big kick out of that!

The they went to the resort city on the ocean of Biarritz. The guys loved the topless beaches, needless to say. The city was having its town fair, so there was plenty of amusement rides, music, and dancing. The kids had a great time.

They then went on to the historic city of Borgos, Spain. It is one of the ancient capitals of Castille, and the home and final resting place of El Cid. They were having the town fair there, too. Lots of dancing and music, and the kids again had a great time!

Last stop (not counting the unexpected night in New Jersey) was Madrid. the kids actually used Madrid more as a place to sleep, and went on busses to other places, like Toledo where they got a huge kick out of going to a sword factory. Bill brought home a beautiful, beautiful sword.

Its so good to have my big guy home! I really missed him!!! ******************************************************

He had a great time, especially in France. I think he is in love with France and the French. And definately in love with French desserts, which he says are the best things he has ever eaten in his life.

The teachers and parent escorts decided that the best way to keep the kids out of trouble was to keep them busy. So they got them out of bed very early every day, kept them up until late at night, and kept them constantly on the move -- and used stairs and walking rather then elevators and subways. The kids all lost weight on the trip, even though they got two all-you-can-eat meals a day as part of the package. And it worked, not a single kid got into the least bit of trouble in the ten days. Though reportedly the adult escorts are so tired, they are close to despair... ******************************************************

I think I need a glass of wine. The pump for the well went out today and I'm waiting for the repairman to come out.

Of course it had to go out on a holiday weekend! :">

Isn't sort of an unwritten rule that the most annoying things happen at the worst times?

Your well pump couldn't die on a week day so you could call in to work -- things don't happen that way. ******************************************************

Damm! We seem to have lost the fireworks emote in the attack! Happy 4th of July, anyway, everyone! *****

What a terrible day in London.

It is horrible to see a massive terrorist attack on innocent civilians like that.

I certainly hope no one I know from the Watch or Hangar has been harmed, or had any family members harmed.

My older son was all upset this morning, having just come back from Europe. I had to explain to him that yes, I knew there was a risk when I let him go on the trip -- but that you cannot let fear rule your life, either.

How do you explain something horrible like this to a good and decent young person?

On a better note, it is the end of a work week and only three work weeks left until my vacation. A week of camping, then I will get to visit with Fisty and Danlo!!!
