Congratulations, Danlo!
MsMary, I can't even imagine having time off like you will have soon. I wish they would give us a sabbatical for every 20 years in where I work...I am getting very burned out, as well, but hate to leave as I have so much time in... ******************************************************

Duchess, I am so looking forward to that time to relax and re-group - it's something that those of us who work in hospital settings rarely get.

I do know what you mean about hating to leave after putting so much time in at one place - many of my co-workers feel the same way. If they stay "just a little longer" their pensions will be better, so it's not worth it for them to leave. But I did not expect to be at this job long enough to get vested anyway, so I really had nothing to lose by quitting. There are lots of nursing jobs out there, so I should be able to get something else without too much trouble.

I am 39. In nine more years I can retire...I stared working at my job in 1987, and they have been offering 25 years and out for a few years now. If I can stand it that much longer I can retire with medical benefits and get a part time job someplace I can enjoy, like a bookshop to earn my spending money...
The biggest thing, though, is that after 15 years they give you 8 hours of vacation time every two weeks. I will NEVER be able to find another job that will give that to me. If only they weren't such absolute jerks about ever giving you any of that time off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nonetheless, I am so burned out and tired I am seriously conseidering either going to my doctor and being written off of work for a month or two (I have months of sick leave in my bank, which will be erased if I quit) so I can get some rest, or just finding another job and starting over...with the understanding with a new employer that I can have some time off in June to go to Elohimfest... ******************************************************

What a lovely day today! The last two days were spitting snow at us, and very cold, but today is sunny and warmer.
I just got back from taking the doggy for a long walk. ******************************************************

Here's a reprint from The Restaurant at the End of the Universe,

Please welcome the Lord Cetic, heirarchy as co-moderator of the Restaurant! We needed to get this place moving and he's agreed to pop in from time to time and stir up trouble. Good trouble that is! If you know the Neverness books you'll know that Hanuman was a Cetic--and he's a troublemaker if there ever was one! Welcome! *****

Duchess, I know exactly what you mean. Where I work, they start to increase the number of hours of personal leave you can get per hour of regular time worked after 5 years, and I believe it is increased even more when you have worked longterm. Many of the employees here are pushing themselves to get to 30 years so they can maximize their retirement benefits. I believe that retirees who have worked at my hospital longterm can also get paid for a certain amount of their leftover sicktime.

I totally empathize with how tired you must feel. Hospital work is extremely tiring and demanding.

Hang in there!

Testing, testing . . . Checking if my avatar works.

Lord Foul, over and out. “Not a whit, we defy augury: there's a special
providence in the fall of a sparrow. If it be now,
'tis not to come; if it be not to come, it will be
now; if it be not now, yet it will come: the
readiness is all: since no man has aught of what he
leaves, what is't to leave betimes?”

Right on Foul! Hail! (Ominous plays Pink Floyd)

Gods! What a beautiful day! About 60 degrees at 10:44 am not a cloud in the sky. Feels like the first real breath of spring here and Lady Tam's ( ) crocuses are blooming away! The heck with the comp (for now)and gross postings at Kevin's Watch . I'm taking Jam 4 a quick walk and then raking leaves like mad in the sunshine! The UNM Lady Lobos just won the Mountian West tournament and destroyed Utah (HA take that! Mormettes! ). They're in the NCAAs and play at home in The Pit!

He's way outta here! *****

I just got my first acceptance letter in the mail, from the University of Rochester.

So now no matter what happens with the other schools I applied to, I definitely have somewhere to go.

I'm going to college! Whee!
