Happy Sunday! I just restared the ASOS group read in Fenestering Through Martin! (...don't look now, but Highdrake is on the verge of bcoming a Master Pilot! ... we haven't had 1 in a looong time! ) And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Just got in from Chicago. We had a great weekend. Damelon is wonderful! You guys are all going to love meeting him next June! When we met he handed me an autographed copy of Hyperion, made out to me in my name! I couldn't believe it! I don't know if anyone has ever given me such a thoughtful gift! The children adored him, too - the little one, who is very very shy even wanted to play air hockey with him at the ESPN Zone Saturday night. The Shakespeare play was great -- I don't know when I've ever laughed so hard at a play -- and the kids couldn't stop talking about the Blueman Group tonight at dinner when we stopped off to get sandwiches on the way home. They are already asking if we can go back to Chicago next summer and see Damelon and Shakespeare and the Blueman Group again! Duchess, anytime that you come to Chicago I will be happy to welcome you and your family.

I hadn't realized that my dear's mom and pop hadn't been downtown in 12 years! They had a fun time at the Blue Man, which I expected ,even though we pushed the time limit . We had a great dinner at Harry Caray's, where suprisingly for Cub fans, none of them had been before. (It takes a Sox fan to know where to go!)

To be challenged to a game of air hockey by your little one was cool.

All in all it was a great weekend.....

One more night and then I can have mine -- though Saturday is soccer hell day and my older son will have something like 5 full length preseason games that day out in Clinton...
I think I will take along a blanket and and some books and magazines and sleep/read/lie in the sun all day...
I will also make sure I take a hat and lots of sunscreen 'cause last year I got burned up really bad...and the poor kids were so hot I ran to a party store and got tons of popsicles for them...

Friday I will be shopping all day with my little son for just the right birthday present for his best friend...and I'll treat him out to lunch at one of his favorite restaurants while I'm at it...

Sounds good! It was less humid here in Mass. today, and I hope it won't be TOO humid the rest of the summer. Further up, and further in!

"Come to Elfhand," the troll said.
The child thought for a while....
"N-no" said the child
"Why not?" said the troll.
"Mother made a jam roll this morning," said the child.

It's been a very interesting couple of days with the power all messed up...it went down when I was at work yesterday and the backup generator for our building took a few hours to get online so we worked in darkness (one flashlight for 6 people for hours, no elevators), and it came up at home this morning but there are still over a million people in the immediate area without...the gas station a bit up the road from my house was one of the few in the area today with power for the pumps to work, so they had lines hours long until they sold out of gas...our water is OK, as we have a well (as long as there is power we have water), but millions of people on the Ann Arbor and Detroit water syatems have to boil their water to use it...they are hoping to get up the power in Ann Arbor and Detoit in time for Monday rush hour, but we had strong storms come through today and further disrupt things, and more expected tomorrow...
I am only online for a few minutes, they are telling everyone there might be bad power surges as they try to bring more cities onto the power grids, and to keep all electronics unplugged...I just wanted to say hello and check my email and then I will unplug my computer again...
I hope Earthblood and Highdrake are all right! Neither one of them probably has power at all, not even the "partial" power I have... Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

Well. supposedly all of the two million and whatever households in Michigan without power have had their power restored, though no one is supposed to run any "optional" large appliances like washers and driers, dish washers, or air conditioning until further notice, so I am going to risk it and turn my computer back on...
