Bounced off Issola and now deep into Druz. Issola was very tastefully written but left some fairly big things to be explained later, or desired. In Druz Brust is making up for all that and kicking some serious butt, all sorts of past characters are coming together in a much, much smoother way than in the last book. The food and recipes are out of this world and the cynicism and irony go so much better with ass kicking and assassination. At page 200 and it's really no wonder that Druz scratched the NY Times Bestseller list, very enjoyable!

I enjoyed Under Heaven so much I am actually reluctant to pick up anything else in the genre. Most things simply will not measure up.

I do want to eventually start rereads of Thomas Covenant and Malazan sooner or later, though. The first has a book coming out in the fall, the latter has two books in the series coming out, one of them the grand finale of the main sequence...

By big dilemna, now that I got hooked on my Kindle, is do I continue to buy hardcovers in the Covenant series to sit on my bookshelf beside all the others, or read the Kindle edition??? What to do....what to do!

Do both?
Read on the Kindle, but leave the hardcovers in pristine condition?
...at least until you come to an Albuquerque elohimfest and can have them signed.

Hey my wife and I talk more and more about retiring in AZ. My little sis already lives there and my older sis says she might move out there in the next few years. So elohimfest just needs to continue for at least 10 more years for me to make it <grin>.

That and I'm talking like someone who doesn't know the area and assumes anything in NM is right next to anything in AZ. Albuquerque could be 14 hours from Tuczon for all I know <grin>.

Not *quite* 14 hours. But the states *are* bigger out west. It took us 6 or 7 hours to drive down to Albuquerque from Denver a few years ago.

I just remember a teacher trying to convince us that Miami was further from Atlanta than Chicago is and all of us thinking, no you're pulling our leg. Chicago is a bunch of states from us and Miami is right next door in Florida.

Florida is a lo-o-o-ng state.
Gator Town is in what is known as North Central Florida, and it still takes seven hours or so to drive to Atlanta.
Used to take 12 hours each way to Beorn's summer camp up in northern Georgia.

Just finished Robin Hobb's Ship of Magic. Now I want the next book, dammit. Alas, Margaret Atwood's The Year of the Flood must go back to the library first. (I can talk about that one in here, right? It's kinda-sorta fantasy, I think...)
