thanks danlo .. all is well here now .. not all the fires are extinguished though .. its been as hot as hades here this last month ..

we were asked to evacuate or choose and stay help .. we stayed .. the closest threat to us was not more than 300 metres/yards away .. but this was only for 2 days out of the entire high alert period.

they estimated more than 500+ homes were lost .. large parts surrounding the capital is just blackened ash .. its so sad .. but still there is sufficient bush-land and natural parkland to lift the spirit.

it has been an enormous time however .. hugely suffering sleep depravation and not via my usual self-inflicted depravation .. I awoke just 2 nights ago in the dead of the night smelling smoke!! it seems like my senses are so acutely attuned to smoke I detect it no matter how far away it is

it was blowing in from a fire some distance away ..

as I said at the Gap .. our bags remained packed until very recently .. everyone has been wearing rationed clothing.

what worries me now .. is the water restrictions .. I lost my veggie garden .. and my yard is suffering .. they say we will not be allowed to use sprinklers anymore ..now that the fire crisis is over ..

understandably this is a dry continent .. and water is an exhaustable resource .. and right now .. for the ACT our supplies are well depleted .. the damns are all low .. so it must be!

anyway .. you shouldnt have asked me to talk .. tis shutting me up thats the problem.

Mhoram .. the fires are not out .. they are well contained now .. fire breaks and fighting have pushed most of them away from the residential areas.

It isnt a threat now to us .. we have been taken off any alert status .. and resume our regular activities ..

So fires are still burning .. but afar off in the distance ..

If you guys don't hear from my wife for a few days, she's pretty sick. The bad cold she's had for a week got down in her chest and now her asthma's going nuts on her. God, I hate it when she gets sick like this! I always feel so helpless. Have you hugged your cat today?<i></i>

Hang in there Duchess!!! Take good care of her calibaby! It's a drag being Tamara has asthma flare ups 2, and I 2 feel helpless...(sending many good magics and healing vibes ur way!)
