Starting Dragon where Vlad suddenly finds himself deep in the Battle of Barrit's Tomb...not the ideal place for an assassin, another flashback, but one that may answer a lot of questions (unlike *LOST*). Also have Druz (number 10 in the series) but ordered #9 (o/o order) Issola yesterday. About 46 pages into 500 Years Later and loving anything Brust!

The Bonehunters. MT felt like a real slog this time...once again, Tehol and Bugg carry the book.

Yeah, I can only take so much of Rhulad's degradation...

Now for something completely different: Magickmaker loaned me Moon Called by Patricia Briggs -- it's the first book in an urban werewolf/vampire/fae series -- and it wasn't bad, so I'm going to start the second one today. Magickmaker says the fifth book came out last month; Briggs is contracted for seven. The main character is a woman who works as an auto mechanic and can shapeshift into a coyote. I'm thinking Jenn would like these.

Stephen Lawhead's Taliesin. Not sure I'll continue with the rest of the Pendragon series (haven't we done just about everything we can do with the Arthurian legend? ) but this one looked interesting.

I just read it recently...wasn't too bad, but I hear the rest are better.

My favourite Aurthurian take is probably David Gemmel's in Last Sword of Power and whatever came after it. Authur as a Romano-British king...was pretty good.

My favorite Arthurian is probably the Warlord Trilogy by Bernard Cornwell. Much more historical fiction than fantasy (it is undetermined upon reading it whether or not the Druid magic is actually magic or just ritual beliefs). Dark and gritty.

Damn, haven't read that one, and I'm a big Bernard Cornwell fan.

ali, you have to at least read Merlin in the Pendragon Cycle.
I enjoyed Taliesin, but I hear I am one of the few who did.

Finally finished up Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay. Is there such a thing as a perfect book? If so, this very well might be it. WOW.

Great blend of action, political intrigue, and beauty set in Tang Dynasty China. :cloud:
