Got done with the last shift of work before my ten day break tonight. Second night in a row where the ER was swamped and drowned in really sick flu patients. All of our intensive care and respiratory isolation rooms are filled. In fact, we are down to just a couple of empty psych beds. If any more patients show up sick enough to need an intensive care bed, we will have to start shipping them to the Detroit VA in ambulances.

Good time to be off from work!

MM: I hate when stuff like that happens....

Duchess: Enjoy your vacation! Sounds like you're escaping work just in the nick of time -- good job! :)

It's been *very* quiet here for the past two days. The partners are all out of town, either at their retreat in Boston or traveling on business. A couple of the associates took the opportunity of the retreat to take a couple of days off themselves. The other two secretaries on my team and I toted things up yesterday morning and realized that out of our eight attorneys, only one is actually in the office. And he's been quiet. 8)

Sadly, tho, the rest of them still have their Blackberries.... :(

Anyway, I used the peace & quiet today to do my Czech homework, so it's all good.

Have a grand time, Cleburne.
Watch out for time distorting standing stones, as well as Nessy... ;)

Oh Scotland sounds like heaven! Yes, take lots of pictures! Supposedly my wild Scottish (the Davidsons) ancestors came from the Loch Ness area. In fact, the haunted ancestral castle is up there someplace. Tulloch? or some name like that...

Today, the firm threw a party for me, in honor of my 10th anniversary. I gave the secretarial manager my suggested guest list and she did all the rest. :) A whole bunch of people came, everybody said nice things about me (including the attorney I've worked for since day one -- he was in rare form...), and the chocolate cake from Costco was really good. A nice little ego stroke. 8)

Of course, this evening is my regular dental checkup, so I'm sure I'll be back down to earth directly.

Well congrats on 10 years, ali! Always nice to know you're appreciated. Office parties tend to be awkward occasions for me, since I'm not the chat-and-socialize type, and I don't practice for it. (That does not mean I'm secretly an axe murderer, honest.) Especially if beer is involved (like at our Xmas parties). Wine I like, but I can't stand beer nor its stench.

I've never had Costco's bakery products, but I did once have a pizza lunch at Costco's little food court area, and it was delicious. Our company gets its drink/coffee supplies from Costco, so I go there regularly.

I am having one ofthose days. Where the fatigue is hitting me so hard I would not even get out of bed or get dressed if I did not have to go to work this afternoon.

I am very glad that as my synthroid dose gradually increases, those days come with less and less frequency. Used to be regularly 2-3 (or more) times a week (which is why I have spent so much time reading the last few years) but now down to occasionally.

If I'm not around much this weekend, know that I am either curled up in bed or on the recliner (probably with a sleeping purring cat in my lap), dozing.
