We wnt to the craft show for hours today, before we came home and I napped for hours.

The quality of the goods there was very high. :)

Some of the more amazing things:
antique silver and china teapots turned into beautiful lamps
old wine bottles which had been turned into lamps
handwoven Mennonite and Amish rugs
old windows (complete with frames) with gorgeous pictures painted on them
stunning photographs of Detroit landmarks
hand sewn silk kimonos for children

We did not buy many things (I did get three fabric book covers, as the lady will not be returning to the fair, as she will be concrentrating on running her store on the Lake Michigan coast and those should hold me for a few years) and Calibaby got me a Christmas sweatshirt. And we couldn't resist one of the hand woven rugs.

I am sure these don't compare to what Duchess gets at the craft fair, but they look well made to me...

They are somewhat similar, Menolly. The lady has a website, but her card is upstairs. The name of her store in the Bitchen Kitchen in Pellston, Michigan, so maybe you can find it with some google fu? The ones I got are quilted fabric covers, some mroe feminine, some gender neutral. I put them on books I am carrying around in my purse to keep the covers from getting all beaten up. 8) They are not very expensive. 8)

edited:
went and got the card - her store is in Pentwater rather than Pellston

her personal website is at:

Someone handed me a handful of coupons for some of Ann Arbor's best restaurants last week - we're talking buy one entre get an entre free - so $30 or more off for a dinner for two. :) 8)

So my husband and I went out to eat tonight at , which has delicious and yummy French and Italian food and a wine list of hundreds of vintages.

We drove the scenic route, west through a pretty little town called Saline and then up to Ann Arbor.About every third house in Saline was pitch dark, which made us wonder how many of them are repossessed and empty. :(

The last time we went to the Earle was for a special date, as it is expensive, and then every table was full, and there was a two hour long wait for people without reservations.

This time the place was half empty. :(

On a Friday night.

With live jazz.

Signs of the times, and a horrible economy. :(

My favorite jazz club, the Firefly, looks like it is closed down completely.

Had lunch and a few beers with Vain yesterday, as he prepared to leave SA and return to NZ.
Was good to meet him. Funny guy. :D

There's a pic up in the album at the Watch.

Yuck. Got the voice mail that literally half of day shift called in this morning. They wanted me to work a double, but I negotiated, and my offical shift today will be 1330 to 2230 rather than 1530 to 2400, so I will be overlapping the two shifts a bit. The snow storm due in tonight has already started.   I'm about to head in, in the hail mixed with snow. :box:

Looks like a bad start to the work week. :|

CONGRATULATIONS ALI!!!!!!!!!!!! :sky: :sky: :sky:

I have not finished my short story yet - I have it plotted out, but just have not sat down to type it in. I have a vacation week next week, so hopefully... :D

NaNoWriMo functions as a kick in the butt to those who have ideas but who do not usually have large blocks of time in their busy lives to work on them. :)
