The library came through quickly in getting me the third in Galbaldon's Outlander series, Voyager. Settling in for a good read this weekend...

Yesterday I read Welcome to the Jungle, a graphic novel based on the Jim Butcher urban fantasy series The Dresden Files, and whose story takes place before the first book of that series. Syperbatural mayhem and murder at Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo. 8)

Now reading the final book in Joe Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy, Last Argument of Kings, great stuff as the author continues to undermine so many fantasy cliches, with well written characters and a well developed plot. 8)

read the novella Backup by Jim Butcher, currently reading The Graveyard Book, YA dark fantasy by Neil Gaiman.

Inspired by one of our members, I think I will start Zelazny's Lord of Light as soon as I am done with the Gaiman (which I am finding to be delightful). 8)

Always, buried in the tissues of his heart and belly, there had burned a deep desire to consume the meat of another animal and to taste the marvelous tang of blood once more. War in Heaven, p. 387.

It's surely not SF. Reading Soldier of the Mist by Gene Wolfe.

Finished Drums of Autumn and am beginning Brisingr. Beorn will try to renew it at his school's library when it is due on the 6th, but seeing as he is the first to have had it on hold before it came in, I suspect it won't be renewable right away. And I am number 86 on the hold list at the public library, so I suspect I won't get very far into it before it must be returned.

I'll go on to The Fiery Cross once Brisingr is either finished or returned and await my holds to come up again...

You would think that with a wait list like that, they would order more copies. :? They could always sell the extras once demand goes down at a library sale. :?

Nah, it's OK.
I think they already have like five copies.
But, our library system has seven or ten branches, that the books get transferred between.
And when they sell books at the library sales, they would far from recoup their costs for the books. I think the most expensive book I have ever seen at the library sale was a $1.50 first edition "collectible" of Salem's Lot. Most of the books sell for 50 cents or so...

I am too for the dissection on Watch (which you need to join btw, AV, tsk, tsk) and more. My used paperback exchange doesn't seem to be getting in Tomb of Atuan-so I may have to but it for the read here. And, I got a strange urge to reread Gormenghast-I think it's been 35 years and I've forgotten a lot.
