Round two game two - Red Wings vs. the Avs. Wings win in a blow out. Add a slice of key lime pie to my earlier slice of cherry cheesecake.

The Avs are a good team, though. I'm expecting them to nuke our butts in Colorado.

Back when I was a kid, Les Habs were my second favorite team after the Wings. Those were the days when the Wings were usually referred to as the Dead Things or the Dead Wings, and the Canadiens had Guy Lefleur and larry Robinson and other super good players.

I will always be glad that my hub and I flew up to Montreal in the late eighties and we got to see a game at the Forum. The Canadiens did not even bother hanging division or regional championship banners there - only Cup banners, one after another from one end of the arena to the other. And after the game they let little kids come down from the stands and sit on the Montreal bench. Now that had serious class.

I was glad to see the team make a come back this year, and I suppose in my heart I was hoping for an Original Six final for 2008 - Red Wings and Les Habs.

As a die hard Red Wings hockey fan, I will admit that I hated those 80's Oiler teams - and still hate Gretsky to this day for playing for them. They always bumped us from the playoffs, you see.

My husband cursed my team last night. He told me they would win the Cup this year. That means they will lose the next round series to the Stars.

(At least he cursed his Lakers, too, proclaiming them the next NBA champions).

The Wings always sucked against the Oilers in those days. I remember one year there was some big scandal involving the Wings and an Edmonton strip club called Goose Loonies during the playoffs, but I do not recall the details. I'm pretty sure our chief enforcer from those days, Bob Probert, was involved in the scandal (whatever it was) though.

Hey, duchess, congrats on the Red Wings! They totally owned the Stars.

Well, the Wings have really let the Stars back into the series yesterday. Hope they play better when it goes back to Dallas.

Well, the Wings finally put away the pesky Stars last night.

I sure hope the two games they lost to Dallas was their annual play off melt down.

Otherwise they will be in serious trouble against Crosby and the Pens.

These days, the Stanley Cup final is the only time that I really tune into hockey, so I'm looking forward to the Wings vs. the Pens. I haven't followed the NHL regular season for years, so I don't know if Crosby has lived up to the hype. But the Pens are in the final, so they must be doing something right.
