I'm reading American Empire: Blood & Iron by Harry Turtledove. Alternate history. The USA and Germany have beaten France, England, Canada and the CSA in the first world war. Now facism is on the rise in the war-ravaged CSA.

Just got "Last Argument of Kings" by Joe Abercrombie. The third in the First Law trilogy, and as brilliantly brutal and cynical as ever.

Doesn't miss a beat picking up from the first two, and you'll be happy to know that your Mr Glokta is on the first line of the first page.

Reading the graphic novel Elric: Making of a Sorceror right now; it is a prequel to the Elric series by Moorcock. It has been years since I haev experienced any Elric; I am actually surpsrised by how much I am enjoying this particular graphic novel. With graphic novels you never quite know how an established world will translate to a different media; this one is fine. 8) I am reading it as a prelude to an Elric series reread of the regular novels. :)

The graphic novel was great for curling up on the couch between dozing off and rain breaks in the baseball game.

Have now moved on to the first actual novel in Moorcock's Elric Saga, Elric of Melibone.

The latest Discworld book, Terry Pratchett's Making Money. :D To be immediately followed by Gemmel's last book, Troy: Fall of Kings. Both new acquisitions.

Getting into Madouc (Lyonesse-Part 3) by Jack Vance. It's been a damn good series, fairies notwithstanding (I'm a fairie-phobe).

Always, buried in the tissues of his heart and belly, there had burned a deep desire to consume the meat of another animal and to taste the marvelous tang of blood once more. War in Heaven, p. 387.
