Our oldest cat, Tigger, is dying. My younger son and I have been taking turns carring him outside so that he can spend parts of what will probably be his last few hours with his favorite people in his favorite place- outdoors. He has had a long life and a good one, filled with love and happiness. I am still very upset, though, for myself and my husband and the children. And our two younger cats - they do know that bad things are happening, and they have been very whiney and clingy the past two days - they do not want to get out of our laps. We have not taken him to the vet to have him put down, as he does not seem to be in any pain. I know if I were very old and in my last days I would want to be at home surrounded by my loved ones. So I am granting him that, even though it is not easy.

Our elderly cat passed away peacefully in his sleep. Since it is Mother's Day, and cold and rainy besides, my husband took pity on me and buried him this morning, on the edge of the woods, in the middle of a huge patch of purple wild violets. And then put a huge rock on top of his grave so coyotes and other scavengers cannot dig his body back up.

I love pets, but their life spans are so short. Tigger and our dog and our youngest son were all babies together. The cat is gone, the dog is so old and feeble that every time he sneezes he falls down. My son is not yet a man grown.

Thanks guys. It is not easy, and the last couple of days it's been about all I can do to drag my butt out of bed to get to work. Withdrawal and curling up in an unmoving ball are unfortunate parts of my grieving process, as I have learned the hard way over the years. At least I do not beat myself up over it anymore, I just give myself some time to start feeling better...

Hope you feel better soon duchess.

As for interesting things, yesterday I went for a helicopter ride, so we could take some aerial pics of this place. Will post a couple in a day or two.

Most interesting thing I did today: saw the new Indiana Jones movie. In a word, I thought it was AWESOME. Will not be surprised if I end up going to it several times.

Went on a 7km walk round part of Sydney Harbour. There is a 21 km walk which takes you right round the Harbour, and I'm slowly building up to that.
