 Obviously, I don't come in here all that often, so don't know a lot of stuff that goes on. What the hell happened to your finger?!?!?!?!?!

It's quite something that I end up visiting here more often than Highdrake. :P

Duchess, I join you in toasting the miracle of modern antibiotics!

That's a magnificent autumn scene you describe. You should take pictures and post them! I posted some of mine at the Watch, but so far no one else has. Apparently it's been kind of a soggy autumn for a lot of people, so there hasn't been much of a chance to enjoy any fall foliage.

I guess our fall season started roughly a month before yours. There are still colourful leaves here and there, but a lot of the trees are bare now. It's also been windy and cold. Old man winter is just around the bend, methinks.

Anyway, have a great marshmallow time!

I just got an email from Amazon, and they already shipped it out today. :faint:

And I still have half of Runes left to reread. :faint:

Oh well, it is not like I will have anywhere near as much reading time while working anyway. I will be happy to finish Runes by the end of the week, and can read FR over the weekend. 8)

Well, Av - that royally sucks. I hope you manage to avoid spoilers in the coming month!

I will make sure that any spoilers here will be in well marked threads, and will also be whited out. :)

Well, I certainly was not intending to spend the afternoon in the pediatric emergeny room at UM hospital, but...when do you ever plan on something like that? :faint:

My younger son had the last soccer game of the season out in Chelsea this afternoon. Right at the end of the game, on of his friends on the team tangled up with an opposing player and they went down, Mr. Sunshine's friend going head and neck first onto the ground really hard. :(

He did not move. :faint:

He was out cold for at least a couple of minutes. :faint:

They EMT's put him in a neck brace and took him away to the hospital. :faint:

And his poor parents were both at work. :faint:

So one of the coaches rode in the ambulance with him, and Calibaby and I with Mr. Sunshine followed the ambulance, and another parent with a couple more of the kids rode followed us. There was no way any of us could let that poor sweet kid go to the hospital with no supporting people to be with him. :(

We took turns visting the poor concussed kid until his parents were able to get there. :(

He is going to be OK. :D :D :D :D :D In fact, for awhile, he had a crowd of team mates in there with him trying to cheer him up. 8) God, there are some great, sweet kids on that soccer team! :hearts:

But man, I think we are all wiped out now. :faint:

When that poor kid went down and wouldn't move...man, that was scary.

In my case, I already had a bad cold, so my immune system was run down. The infection was from (and I hope I spell this right) psudomonus, which is a nasty bacteria that causes a huge percentage of hospital bourne (nosocumial) infections. It is an opportunistic organism, which means it attacks people who are already sick. So I was probably exposed from working in a hospital, and it got me because I was already run down.

The good thing is that what I had thought the previous week as being a bad cold (you can see that a couple of pages back, me whining about the cold) was actually a bacterial sinus infection.

And the ciprofloxacin nuked the infection on my finger AND the sinus infection. :D 8)

Ciprofloxacin is a gift from God. :hearts:

Now, my younger son had a recurring very nasty skin eating bacterial infection on his ankle a couple of years back. It was a staph infection he had caught from wrestling. That was terrible and I hope it never happens again. The poor kid was in so much pain his brother had to put him in a fireman's carry to get him to the bathroom. :faint:

So he has scars on his ankle, and I will have a scar on my finger. But he still has his ankle and foot, and I still have my finger and hand. And that is the important thing. :D

Haha, Rain's finally let up here, (it's rained for about 2 weeks...very unseasonal), and it's hot as hell again. :D

Driving home tonight was drizzly and very foggy. I nearly got t-boned by a pickup truck coming out of a long country driveway, but he slammed on his breaks and I swerved, and we were both OK.

I think my son might have a two hour fog delay in the morning, though - which is fine. I will make us a breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes. :)

If the weather is scutty tomorrow, I have decided to fill up my stereo system with Beethoven cd's, turn up the volume loud enough to shake the walls, and take a long hot relaxing bath to the Ninth. 8)
