yes and yes
Defenses are a whole 'nother ball of wax, they are awared pts but mostly have pts taken away due to how many pts the opposition scores-if your D keeps the other team's pt total pretty low you'll gain some pts from what you start with. My D, San Diego, starts with about 13 pts according to the 'experts' my D tends to make a bunch of sacks and a pt or two are awarded for that and it doesn't allow many pts per game, but it doesn't make an incredible amount of interceptions and the special teams haven't been that stellar in the past, but that looks much better this year. So punt and kickoff returns for TDs also comprise how many pts your D will wind up with.
I play Kins this week and we both have interesting defenses, two of the best in the league-but with a kickoff runback treat like Hester on Chicago he may have the edge. Then again with the powerful Charger offense the Chargers might break that defense and I will come out with more overall points-especially because the Charger's QB, Philip Rivers, doesn't throw too many interceptions and Rex Grossman is very prone to not only throw ints but he fumbled alot last season.
So sacks, interceptions and recovered fumbles can gain you pts too...
