You sound happy - and in the picture your son looks happy. And that is wonderful!

My son got home from soccer camp on the other side of the state today. His highlight: throwing an annoying kid head first into the hallway garbage can at 3AM to the applause of everyone on that floor of the dorm. Apparently the kid kept pounding on all of the doors repeatedly and would not stop when asked. So Mr. Sunshine, as team captain, took things into his own hands. This is one time I am not proud of one of my children.

So see, Menolly - sometimes interacting with others at camp is not a good thing.

Danlo - I am sorry to hear that your Jojo doggy got hurt like that. But I am very happy that your baby did not get hurt! Do not feel sad about that dog being put down - if it has already tried to maul two other dogs, who is to say that it would not be a child next time? Or that it would attack and kill a very small dog? I can understand your feeling bad for the owner for having to put it down - but a dog like that could kill or main a child next time.

Harry Potter comes out at midnight, but thanks to that leaked book, I cannot keep away from spoilers on the internet. They are pretty much everywhere. And then when I got today's paper, the headline was "Harry Potter Review - Plot Spoilers Inside".

What was even more frustrating was when I was trying to give him a stern talking to about it, his father and brother were literally writhing on the floor, holding their tummies, howling with laughter. Well, older brother was on the floor and father was on the couch but they were both writhing and howling. Sort of killed the whole "stern talking to" thing.

Maybe it is a male thing I cannot understand? Or a jock thing?

Thanks-Joj goes to the vet at 11 to get her two drainage tubes out. Re: the soccer camp thing--it's a male thing, and much less worse than thing I've seen growing up. Idiots like that deserve what's coming to them, Mr. Sunshine did exactly the right thing.---time to do laundry, lots and lots of laundry!

Well, Menolly, I'm happy for you and Beorn. He certainly looks to be having more fun at camp than I ever did. (I have less-than-pleasant memories of my junior high camping trip - and that was a mere 4-day thing. Not here to hog space talking about myself, just mentioning my experience so you're aware of my personal bias.)

That's a larger issue, for sure, Duchess. Is that how so many of us turn into conflicted, self-contradictory adult human beings?

I was just saying that, for me, "camp" and "fun" are two words that don't belong together. But yes, by extension, I don't associate "school" with "fun" either.

Haha, I largely agree. Apart from my last couple of years, (where I was basically left alone to do as I pleased), I hated school. In retrospect it was easy, sure, but damn I hated it.
