Well, this sort of incident shows the dark side of pet ownership. I've imagined myself having a pet some day, but these kinds of incidents always make me stop and think: do I really need the extra emotional burden of being responsible for an animal? Especially if my own pet were to attack another? I don't think I'd be eager to stare into that particular emotional abyss. Av is simply advocating an uncluttered existence, and I would tend to agree with that view.

Anyway, danlo, very sorry about your dog. I'm just glad you came out of that ordeal without major injury.

Actually, I'm barely responsible enough to look after myself. I shudder to think of trying to be responsible enough to look after another living creature, animal or child. (If there's a difference...oh yes...children are parasitic for much longer...)

And while I don't have much problem with other people's children (usually), the positive is that after a while, their parents come and take them away.
