I finished Bless me Ultima, which was a beautiful story. :) I might post some quotes if I can find a bit more time. :)

Am now on a reread of Zindell's The Lightstone. This is one that just gets the richer upon each reread, as I pick up on the foreshadowing, and on other such things I did not get on the first or second times I read it. I love books like that - after at least twenty reads I still pick up things in SRD's TCTC. :D 8)

Have finished both parts of Zindell's The Lightstone - the hardcover was so ginormous that they split the mass market paperback into two books - and am now about to reread the second book the Ea Cycle - Lord of Lies. :)

I'm reading The Crooked Letter by Sean Williams. It's pretty good.

Still reading Hal Duncan's Ink; winding up to climax. I don't know if its just me, but it seems a lot more coherent than Vellum--the connections between the stories, and the metaphysics of the Vellum, are more obvious.

Well on my way in the reread of Zindell's The Black Jade today. That is one series that gets richer and better with each book. :D 8)

I probably stayed up way to late last night to read, though. I feel sort of wiped out today.

Finished up the beautiful Zindell. :D I am all ready now for next month's release of the fourth and final book in that series, The Diamond Warriors. :)

Am now embarked on something Joy recommended. :) The Mountain's Call by Caitlin Brennan (pen name for Judith Tarr) is the first book in the White Magic Trilogy. In the Empire there is a Mountain where gods of patterns and time live in the form of white stallions. Every year they send out a Call for youngsters to come to the school to try to become Riders. This year, for the first time in a thousand years, they have called a girl...but what the Gods have Called might not be accepted by their servants!

About to start Song of Unmaking, second book of Tarr/Brennan's White Magic Trilogy. On the one hand, I enjoy the horses and their magic, and the inspiration from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, home of the Lippizan Stallions. On the other hand, the first book was a bit too heavy on the romance angle for me, and I am hoping that the second book will be a bit lighter on the romantic entanglements and heavier on the fantasy/adventure elements. I guess I will have to read and find out.

Heck, even in the romance novels that I read, I tend to prefer wit and humor such as found in Austin and Heyer to well...outright romance.

It's been a busy week, but I am nearing the end of the second book of The White Magic Trilogy by Brennan/Tarr. :) This one does seem to be more balanced between the romantic angle and the adventure/fantasy sides of things. Perhaps that is because a war has broken out between the Empire and the Barbarians. :)

There isn't anything bad or poorly about the romantic angle to these books - I should make that very clear - I think I am just in the mood for a rip roaring adventure story right now instead. 8)

Between bouts of housework this morning I finally finished up Song of Unmaking and got started on Shattered Dance, the third book of The White Magic Trilogy by Brennan/Tarr.

This one seems to be more about political intrigues, etc. after the war in the second book (so far anyway). :)

Re-reading Pratchett's Going Postal. *shrug* Short on books at the moment. :D

I have started reading The Dark Prince by David Gemmell. It is a fantasy about the childhood of Alexander the Great and sequel to his wonderful Lion of Macedon. :)
