My Stevie wrestled really really hard today. He took third, and to get that he had to beat a kid who had previously placed in other national tournaments. It was a really tough match, but he did end up pinning his opponent. He only lost one match today, to the kid who eventually finished second. He lost that match by three points, it was really close, and that kid also previously placed in national tournaments. Since this was Mr. Sunshine's first ever national championship, he did great!!

People had flown in with their kids from both coasts and from deep in the south from places like Texas. The majority of people came from the Great Lakes states and the Great Plains states, as those were withing 1-2 days' drives.

I'm sure of you check that link in a day or two, they will post the results for the tournament. Look for my Sunny One as the third place finisher in the 11-12 year olds, 126 pound weight group. ******************************************************

Well, last year he qualified, but we skipped the tournament because we had tickets to Royal Shakespeare that weekend and we all thought that was more important than a wrestling tournament. :wink:

Yes, we are geeks that way. :lol:

So we are trying this again this coming weekend. I will probably have to stay home with the elderly and very incontinent dog, though.

It still bums me out to miss my son in the nationals, though - even if I am not expecting him to do particularly well...

This year he will be with the 13-14 year olds, and will probably weigh in at about 140 pounds.

(Yes, he has grown - he is taller than both his older brother and me now.

)
