I wish you could come see him! He will be Antony in Antony and Cleopatra and then in three weeks I will be able to see him as Prospero in my favorite Shakespeare play, The Tempest. The other play they will be doing (which Stewart is not performing) is one of my favorites of his tragedies, Julius Caesar, the one my younger son is most eager to see. I know he would rather go see the Tigers (where some of the scalpers have been asking up to $10,000 for good seats), but he will just have to settle for the second hardest ticket to get in town. ******************************************************

Halloween is completely meaningless to me, except in the sense of the corruption of an ancient festival.

Growing up, there was no Halloween here. I mean, we knew about it, but we didn't really celebrate it at all. These days, especially with the beguiling profits to be made, certain industries have promoted it more, and kids actually do "tick or treat" and dress up and whatever. Not when I was young though.

I used to like Christmas best, but I have built up too many bad associations with it the last 2-3 years. Halloween is definately my favorite holiday now.

I just love all of the fun, the parties, the cute little kids in costumes. Candy corn and apple cider. Carving pumpkins and all of the lights and decorations! ******************************************************

Returned last night about 1.00 a. m. to Chicago after about 2 1/2 weeks in California with family. Some updates regarding my trip will be put on my livejournal. Traveled first cabin on the leg of my trip from O'Hare to Phoenix, very, very cool. taraswizard

I will have to check out your live journal, Taras.

Hope you had a good trip - and I am sure that the weather out there had to be better than the weather out here. ******************************************************

The first year we lived in our current house, we bought candy and no kids came. So now we don't bother. People in this neighborhood either don't do Halloween, or don't take their kids trick or treating. "Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?"<i></i>

How nice.

I just came off a 3-day-off stint, now I have a stretch of every other day scheduling - on Thursday, off Friday, on Saturday and so on.

And in a note of irony, the hospital from which I resigned a few years ago is taking over one of the hospitals I currently work for. "Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?"<i></i>

Every other day isn't bad as long as its not 12 hour shifts...and yes, that is ironic. Hopefully they will not mess up the place you are currently working!

Having a peaceful day at home with my younger son, who is 14 today. Took the little man out to lunch and let him pick out his own presents and cake. When his dad gets home, we'll have pizza and cake for dinner. ******************************************************

Just wanted to tell everyone I will be out of here for a couple of days. My older son will be having his birthday on Tuesday, so we will be heading down to Indiana to visit him.

Everyone have a great weekend! ******************************************************

So, what's up with me? I've been in kind of a state of shock lately--we had to give the boys back to the birth parents 10 days ago, but we all met and had a great time at Japanese Kitchen this Saturday. Taking Miss Elora Grace (18 months) to swim therapy this afternoon--they have terminated the parental rights so after some long court proceedings she will eventually be our adopted daughter.

We're going to New York for six days for Thanksgiving. It's my mom's favorite hoilday and the Dr.s have given her till Dec. or Jan before progressive lung cancer takes her. My Dad's 86 and will probably go right after her...so it's kind of rough. I want to start writting my book, but all this is kind of taking the wind out of my sails. But I am trying to meditate and find ways to be positive about things. *****

Hell danlo...what can I say. It's pretty tough to be positive in the face of so much going on, but I think its important to try. And important to try and keep some vestige of a sense of humour.

And there's always your daughter and Lady Tam. I'll be thinking of you man.

Peace
