I dig the new background. It's a refreshing change. Like Av, though, I do prefer the darker backgrounds.

Duchess, I *might* have a pretty good algebra text book at home. It's actually a navy training course. I'll try to remember to look for it tonight (haven't seen it since I moved from VA). If so, I'd have no problems sending it to you. ________________

If we do decide to home school, we might well take you up on that offer, Syl.

Man, MsMary - I would be absolutely exhausted working a schedule like that. By the end of my work week I am often exhausted at just 40 (and sometimes a little more) hours. Great news about Foamy! She has always impressed me with her intelligence and maturity - you must be so proud of her!

Av, I wish it were cool enough here to spit a bit of snow - but the storms finally rolled through this morning and it is back down to normal summer temperatures. The storms are supposedly hitting the east coast sometime tonight, so our New York area and Boston area brethren will be getting some sweet relief. ******************************************************

It's still freezing here. For us anyway. Supposed to warm up again by next week though. But it's been a serious cold snap.

Just got home from work, the drive was lovely. Had my windows down with the wind blowing in my hair. It's a heavenly 65 degrees farenheit right now (in the middle of the night). If my husband were awake I would pull him outside to dance on the deck with me.

It is a glorious night!!!!!!!!!!! ******************************************************

I've got a desire to talk like crazy-but my minor bi-polar trait kicks in (or need for a nap) and says, "go to bed instead!"

Watch is, primarily back, I've been spending alot of time on Dan Simmons' and George R. R. Martin's websites-learning all sorts of interesting things-rumor has it that Simmons has sold the rights to all the Hyperion books and is now a gadzillionaire! George's rumor has everything to do with everything else but movies, but, apparentely he's making a nice fortune off it. George's construction on his house is hurting because of all the rain in NM for the past month-but, somehow, I don't feel all that sorry for him. Can't wait to see him and SRD at Bubonicon on the 18th! (reads from Dances with Dragons and Fatal Revenant-I am the most spoiled fantasy putzhead in the world!)

Well I'm editing now as I see my friend Damelon on. I'm going to watch Wedding Crashers tonight--I hid it from the kids (and myself) and Tam found it after 27 days . Only movie I'm interested in seeing is Robin William's The Night Listener-sorry just couldn't get into any (theatrical) movies this summer-not even Supe or PotCaribbean. I'll probaly be right back to babble on........ *****

Night Listener looks pretty cool. I saw the preview for it earlier this week. I didn't recognize Robin Williams at first.

I read the premise on IMDB and of course like an idiot I started scrounging around for reviews. God I don't know why I do that. People either really enjoyed it or absolutely hated it. Whatever, I'm still going to see it.

The only other movie I plan to see this summer is Lady in the Water. <i></i>

Martin is still having that construction going on? He was talking to my husband about it last November at a book signing when he found out my husband is a contractor!

I have not seen any movies this summer...heck, things have been so busy that it is only this week I have been able to watch a couple of movies I had from Netflix, which have been sitting around since May. In fact, I still have one of the three movies from May upstairs.

Yeah, Danlo - Wedding Crashers is a movie you do not want the kids to watch! ******************************************************

He talked about it on his July 19th entry on Blog Not a Blog--said he he's putting on a pitched roof-to stop leaks and plumbing all had to be ripped out as not to code-it's probably a beautiful location (almost anyspot on Santa Fe's many hills is) but I think he may have bought a lemon--he's got the bucks to make lemonade though...

Got halfway through Crashers--it's great Walken and Seymore! (Dang she's still so hot! grrr... ) *****

After seeing that movie I thought Vince Vaughn has a truly ugly butt.

Say danlo...How come the background on the main index page isn't tiled?

I think he said somewhere there' a special code for the main page that cannot be used for the individual forums?

Busy days this week...today the cement people finally came to give us a cement driveway. Hopefully no one's car will slide in the snow straight down the hill into the bushes next winter.

Today my hub and younger son and I will be meeting with the principal of the high school to decide what will be going on with son's school this year. He had pretty much made up his mind in favor of home schooling, but one of his friends was dreadfully hurt last week when he was in an accident while riding his dirt bike, getting many broken bones (he was in the ICU for nearly a week- the docs had to play Humpty Dumpty with him and his face has a bunch of steel plates now) and a horrible concussion. So now Stevie is thinking about going back to the middle school so he can help his friend with his classes. I have spent the morning explaining to him that his friend might miss a good chunk of the school year, and while his heart is in the right place, that this is a decision he needs to make on what is right for him, and not his friend.

And my older son is off to college next week and we have to start his packing very soon. He has read the book that they handed out to all of the kids at orientation and is required reading for all incoming freshmen at his university ~ First They Killed my Father, a memior of a lady who survived the Killing Fields of Cambodia as a little girl. In his senior year of high school, all of the seniors were required to read Night by Elie Wiesel, the memiors of a man who had survived the Nazi death camps as a little boy.

Depressing stuff ~ but so important to keep those memories alive, in hopes that such atrocities never happen again. ******************************************************

Quote:Say danlo...How come the background on the main index page isn't tiled? It used to be. Should it be? I don't quite understand... If you mean why doesn't it repeat--well it's sort of luck of the draw (especially when one doesn't have photoshop abilities to expand large images)-The Donaldson, Martin and Cthulhu's Corner forum backgrounds aren't supposed to repeat--but on larger monitors they do-I guess I got lucky with this one...

Yeah, I meant why doesn't it repeat.

If it's just luck of the draw, then it means your background is a fixed size, and all you need to do is make sure that evey picture is that size. (Monitor size will matter though I think.)

Lemme see how big it is, and I'll try enlarge this one to the same size, give it to you, and you can see if it works. Be back later...

Ok.

Try this:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n268 ... wlchat.jpg

Save that pic, which is the background for this sub-forum, made the same width as the pic on the main index. (It's longer though, to preserve proportion.)

Dunno if it'll work, but worth a shot.
