Happy birthday!! Further up, and further in!

"Come to Elfhand," the troll said.
The child thought for a while....
"N-no" said the child
"Why not?" said the troll.
"Mother made a jam roll this morning," said the child.

Danlo love the new emoticons and all of the work you've done on the Williams and Pelablinka forums.

Should be a good weekend! My husband is actually taking a day off, so we are all going to teh Detroit Science Center to see the Titanic Artifact Exhibit, along with an IMAX movie about the Titanic, and a planetarium show about what the night sky looked like the night the ship went down...
And we're going to eat lunch in Greektown. Flaming cheese! OPA!!!!!

And then Saturday I will get to do laundry all day so I can pack for our upcoming visit to Chicago.

I love what you 2 did with Pelablinka! I sent you a response PM, Duchess, but it doesn't show in my outbox, so I'm not sure if you got it.

Friday night, I'm going up to Milwaukee to see the Counting Crows and John Meyer. Saturday, Dan Simmons is in Schaumberg at the Borders there, It's about an hour drive and I think I can make it.

Then next week, it will be Chicago planning.

I hope you do get a chance to run out and see Dan Simmons, Damelon! He will be in Ann Arbor tomorrow, and I will be at work with no car, so I won't be able to see him.
And I am so glad you liked waht Danlo did with your forum! Did you see the new emoticon for you, too?
Yesterday was quite interesting. My car died in a huge cloud of black smoke right next to the Detroit Science Center (How is that for timing?) My hub volunteered to wait for the towtruck, so the kids and I headed in and got to see the Titanic artifacts. He was able to join us in time for the IMAX movie and planetarium show...
We walked the 2 or 3 miles to Greektown and got our flaming cheese, and then someone from a car rental place met us at the restaurant and delivered us a rental car so we could get home...my car will be at a shop in downtown Hamtramck until at least Monday and we're talking a four figure repair job...
BUT at least it didn't break down on us while driving to Chicago. SO we are very grateful for that! Also we still got to do everything we had wanted, except for Calibaby being able to see the actual ship's artifacts...
And of course when we got home, I started running a high fever and having a sinus headache and had to take all sorts of drugs just to be able to fall asleep. Highdrake was on AIM and kept me company until I felt well enough to go to bed...
Today we will return the rental car to Hamtramck, and then my husband has volunteered to drive me to work, to pick up my car when its ready, do the grocery shopping, and all of that sort of thing for the next couple of days...
So no Dan Simmons for me. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

Do we have time 2 take up a collection 2 buy a copy of Hyperion and have get Simmons 2 autograph it 4 Duchy? Maybe that would make her feel better? And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

I found the directions to the borders, and am heading out the door in a couple of minutes to go down there to see Dan Simmons.

I was going to tell him to take a look out for you in Ann Arbor tomorrow.

Hope you get better soon. You must be well before you come to Chicago.

I'll check in later.....

Oh, I feel better today, guys!!! My fever broke in my sleep last night. Poor Calibaby said when I finally came to bed for the third and last time last night I clung to him and whimpered in my sleep and was burning hot to the touch, and then after awhile I started sweating to the point where the pillow and sheets were soaking wet, and after that I slept quietly. We think that was when the fever must have broken. Today I feel much better, and even the headache is better, since my sinuses are draining.

We took the rental car back to Hamtramck this morning -- Calibaby drove the rental and I got to drive his beat up old work truck (I chose to drive the truck since I am still not 100% and am familiar with it). Hamtramck (or as we natives call it, Ham-tram) is an old city which was engulfed and surrounded by the city of Detroit, but which remains its own cultural and legal and political entity. It is the traditional Polish and eastern European area of the greater Metro area. We stopped off at a Polish deli and bought tubs of all different flavors of pierogies to eat (including some for freezing for later), and also at a Polish bakery where we bought several loaves of all different sorts of breads (again, some are now in our freezer), a gorgeous cheese coffee cake wheel, a Napolean tart, and angel wings. If any of you ever come visit us and like ethnic food, maybe we can take you there.

I enjoyed talking to Highdrake last night. He is very excited about Elohimfest and wants very much to take some time on that weekend and visit Chaco. I also want to visit Chaco. Perhaps if enough of us want to go we can make it a group trip as part of the weekend? We could pile into a couple of vehicles and pack up a big picnic in some coolers and it might be a lot of fun.

Curiously enough I have never been 2 Chaco, but I have read alot about it and always wanted 2 see it. Chaco is a fascinating place and may even b the Doriendor Corishev of 2days Pueblans. Quite the place 2 experience the spiritual side of Elohimfest. I would b very happy 2 lead the way--and I'm totally sure Kin will go--our Envoy seats 6 com4tably. (bring hats, sunblock, and light clothes)

And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

That would be wonderful. We could probably fit two more people in our truck...and plenty of room for coolers and what have you in the covered truck bed. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell
