:"> God what a crappy day! Kevin's Watch down ALL day, we lost our major emoticon connection and a renowned member of ASOIAF has died--I'd have a drink if there was a drink 2 b had! (we should get the emoticon link back by 2mrrw...I hope) And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Ahira, Ahira, he called out silently to the sky. Ahira, Ahira

Only early this morning--yes I was on it--but it's been off 4 rest of day. Lord Manwoody died at ASOIAF... And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Yes, I saw yesterday that he had passed. Makes me very sad. He was an intelligent and observant poster, a brilliant man, a professor from Australia, I believe.

I'm, actually starting to get stoked up for Friday -- it's a major holiday and I don't have to work it for once! Well, yeah, it does fall on my normal day off, which is probably why, but I'm still happy! The last one I had off was Thanksgiving (and I've only had off maybe - three?? Thanksgivings - in the last 15 years, and due to work it again this year) and we spent it driving 16 or so hours, and couldn't find anyplace open to get any dinner when we got to our destination.
SO I am very happy to get a holiday off! We saw the fireworks in our town last Saturday night, want to go see some more on Friday! Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

It'll be good to have my wife home on a holiday for once!

We can see some fireworks and have a barbecue! Have you hugged your cat today?

I'll be traveling Thursday to a cabin up in the UP of Michigan, 30 miles from the nearest town. I'll come back on Sunday, just in time for all that traffic

Tonight on my way home from work I got stopped by a cop for the first time in my life! 38 years old and nothing more than an occasional parking ticket! Turns out I had a headlight burned out, so he told me to fix it and let me go without a ticket when he saw my clean record! I was so relieved!
I still think I need a good strong drink, though!

And everyone please have a wonderful Independence Day! Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

I am back from my vacation, and had a very nice time sightseeing in NY state and Montreal, and seeing Foamy in NYC.

Two more days off before I have to go back to work.

That sounds heavenly!

We've had thunderstorms every day and night since the middle of last week. I am working on a nearly week old sinus headache. Maybe a good stiff drink might knock me out for several hours and I will wake up feeling better?

I suppose I should wait until AFTER work for that, though. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell
