Just finished 6 hours of serious weed pulling with Tam, Grace and our neighbor--then it got WAY too hot! WHEW! Yea my front yard is back!!! Now to take a long refreshing bath before I get my GoLyghtly prescription for the blessed event at 8:45 tomorrow morning.

Great, my appointment, turns out, was for Sept. 23rd (even though Tam heard me repeat today's date back to the scheduler...) well at least I'm "cleansed" LOL

hi kids!! been away too long (again...) hope all is well with everyone, especially Danlo - cleansing can be a disturbing experience (nicest way I could think of saying it..)

We have been extremely busy the last 2 months getting ready for and receiving our exchange student from Chile!
He arrived last Saturday and we have been getting to know each other since.
He is a very nice young man, has a very good grasp on the english language and is one of the best soccer players I've seen in a long time!
He tried out for the varsity team (made it!!) and I think the coach was a very happy man after seeing him play.
He will be with us for the entire school year, so the fun has just begun!!
Our son is just starting middle school (grade 6) and our Chilean son is a junior in high school.

Nice to be back in the Hangar and I'll try to be 'regular' (pun intended for Danlo!!)

As I am sure you probably saw on my Facebook Wall, Beorn's guidance counselor does not recommend the trip for Beorn. I think we'll focus on getting him on to one of the "Birthright" trips to Israel instethad, once he is actually in college.

Wow, with SRD at Coppercon and GRRM at Worldcon, I feel a severe dearth of fantasy talent in New Mexico.

I'm breathing a sigh of relief today.
An online friend of mine lives in Chr-st Church, New Zealand, where the 7.1 earthquake hit a few days ago.
I saw him online this morning. He is fine and his neighborhood sustained very little damage.
Power is on. The hardest thing for him is the boil water instructions for now.

He has also been in touch with Watcher/Hangerite Dorian and says all is well with him.

The earthquakes in NZ and Chile as opposed to the big ones in Haiti and China have shown the supreme importance of strict building codes and solid construction. Good to see NZ and Chile coming out of monster quakes in decent shape under the circumstances.
