Well, mixed sorta day for me. Menolly, I got those books. Thank you so much. You gotta let me know if there's something I can send you. Really appreciate it. And now that I've got them all, the GF is gonna read them. (She refuses to start a series unless she has every book of it. I had to trick her into reading the Chrons, by not saying anything about the last ones. So she read to WGW. Boy, was she pissed at me. Won't start the last chrons until I have them all. )

On a sadder note, her grandfather died late last night. Wasn't a complete surprise, he was 85 and hasn't been well recently, but within the last few months he just sorta lost the will to live. Attitude is 85% of anything I think, and he just got sick of carrying on. It was pretty peaceful as these things go, don't think he really suffered. Still, not the happiest of days of course.

Condolences to you and the GF, Av.

I wish I could figure out exactly what I'm looking at in the distance when I look out my windows. They face east/northeast, which may or may not encompass part of DC. We saw a bunch of fireworks off in the distance tonight, but I couldn't tell whether I was seeing the display from the National Mall (don't think so), Nationals Park (maybe) or somewhere in Maryland (unlikely given the size and length of the display). Sigh. I should probably just buy/borrow a set of binoculars. And wait for the leaves to fall.

Will be out of here for the next week -camping on a Lake Michigan beach.

I've been debating about talking Magickmaker into a weekend camping trip before she goes back to school next month. She took backpacking in the spring and I'm interested to know what she learned that was different from what the Girl Scouts teach. But we'd be doing car camping -- I am not in any sort of shape right now for a backpacking trip...

Damn it's cold here. Daytime highs are barely into double digits, lows just below freezing. This is ridiculous...we're supposed to be headed for spring. Ok, 6 weeks away, but still...
