We had a cold front over the weekend. It went down to 55 F. at night.

The coldest it usually gets here in the winter is 40 F., and usually only for a couple of days, then it warms back up.

Oh haha, you southern hemisphere types are soooo funny.

It was shirtsleeve weather on Sunday when I took Magickmaker back to college. Even yesterday was pleasant. Then a front rolled through and the temps dropped during the day. I happened to stop at WalMart on the way home last night and discovered that the quilted jackets they had on sale for $5 on Black Friday were still on sale, for just $7. So I got myself one, and was grateful for it this morning when I walked out to the car.

(Menolly: For seven bucks, it might be worth buying one for your next trip north to meet NY Watchers...)

Winter is starting to settle in around here. as well, and we will need our winter coats and jackets. October was cold, but November was largely warm. Last night was right about freezing with a sharp cold wind. Tonight it is three degrees above freezing, and actually felt OK as there was no wind. Thursday and Friday we will be having some sort of snow. Some forecasts call for a moderate to large dump and others only sprinkles.

Snow? I've heard about that.

(I jest, I've actually seen and touched it. 3 times in my life in fact. Although twice it was in other countries. )

You need to come for a visit. We have snow forecast for six of the next seven days (though it is only flurries and sprinkles, and perhaps a dusting or two).

It's about 25 degrees here and slate gray overhead. Tiny little specs of snow are falling--they're trying, but they're dying. At least it accounts for our first "snow" of the season...

Even in the summer, we'd probably be colder than what you are used to.

But that's the good thing - while I envy Florida winters, I do not think that I could survive the heat and humidity (and pollen) of a Florida summer. I'll take highs in the seventies and low eighties here in a Michigan summer, thanks.

*Seriously* looking forward to moving to Colorado eventually and getting away from the typical hot and humid mid-Atlantic summers. Winter weather here isn't so bad, except that when snow is in the forecast, everybody freaks out and buys out the grocery stores of bread and milk, and demands that the schools close.

I don't think our schools close unless the school buses can't pick up kids because the engines are frozen.

On school in-service days here, I hear about parents taking their kids out to the river for skating or hockey - in thirty below weather. I'm not quite that crazy, but many of us do have a defiant attitude towards winter.

That said, I must admit, I'm finally getting a tad weary of our northern climate. Maybe it's my advancing age...maybe my bones can't hack the winters here any more. On the other hand, if global warming really kicks into high gear over the next little while, then maybe Winnipeg will feel like Florida. Which could be awesome...until giant mutant mosquitoes show up. Sigh. Just can't get a perfect world.
