It never rains but it pours. I have not been feeling well for the past few days, but put it down to losing the dog and just general overall thyroid problem exhaustion. Then today I realized my pulse rate is way slower than what the doctors want it to be. So I made an appointment with my regular doctor to go in and have it checked (no room at the specialists, alas). Sure enough, my heart was slower than they want, so they lessened the dose of the propranolol, which I have been taking to slow it down while hyperthyroid.

(They want my heart rate to be in the eighties. The propranolol took it from the hundreds to the eighties - and today it was down in the sixties, so the dose had to be adjusted).

I have slipped from being hyperthyroid to being hypothyroid over the last few days, which means the exhaustion is worse than ever. The radiation treatment finally worked! :sky:

Unfortunately, I was so worn down and worn out that the doctor wrote for me to be off from work for a week.

I will see the specialists again in two weeks, and can then start the treament for hypothyroidism - which is much easier and much more treatable than the hyper. :) 8)

Egad. Anything that messes with something as vital as heartrate freaks me out, but I'm glad the propanolol is doing what it's supposed to do for you.

At any rate, duchess, it's nice to have a week away from work. Hope you get to enjoy it!

Is it just something with my account, or are the Gen. Sci Fi and Ice Dome forums showing as password-protected for everyone?

Working now. Though those two forums are still the only ones with "New Posts" in small text above the forum name, which is odd.

Happy St.Patricks day to one and all from your sole Irish Leprechaun you have at the Hangar  ( Unless there are other members who might be Irish or have family links to Ireland :?: ).

I'm about a 1/3rd Irish with Kennedy (no not those Kennedys) and Tyner ties-related to the Tyner who was the Archbishop of Dublin. The other 2/3rds are crazy Scots, mostly McCalister. :sneak: Ah there's a wee bit o' green! :buds:

I'm a bit Irish - the Dillons (I think they were Norman Irish if I remember my family history correctly) came over to Virginia back in the 1600's, and as with all of my ancestors, ended up settling in the backhills down there for hundreds of years. I am also a bit of what we Americans call Scotch Irish, what they call Ulster Scots over in Europe - the Davidsons were Scottish Highlanders who settled in Northern Ireland for a bit before also coming to Virginia in Colonial times, and settling in the back hills of Virginia. The Davidson were Revolutionaries. The English drove them from the Highlands and then from Ireland, and they refused to be driven away from a third homeland.

Many of the people who came straight from Scotland, even the Highlanders, supported the English during the Revolution. The Scotch Irish were mostly wild eyed and determined Revolutionaries. I'm not sure why the divide, but that generation or two spent in Ireland really made of big difference in American colonial days for people with Scottish roots... :?

The McCalisters got the Campbell troops so drunk the night before that they and the British fled from a key battle as they were being routed at the crack of dawn.
