ahh to be 38 again.........
of course, emotionally, I never went past about 17, so I figure I'm doing ok - it's just the body parts that refuse to function like they used to......

I know I asked this question before, but when does the next TCTC book come out - is it Oct 2009?
And what is he calling it?

Anyhow, the next one's not due out until 2010. And 2013 for the final one.

Sorry ali-I deleted the double post before I saw yours--anyway Tam is fricking amazing! Went home 23 hrs after her surgery and now is feeling good and the swelling of her scar has gone down considerably. We all had dinner with SF writer and Donaldson's friend, Robert Vardeman, last night and Jenn's triple cheese lasagna was out of this world! Learned some interesting facts about SRD and we agreed that David Brin's ego is too big for this world, that Alfred Bester was an a-hole and that L. Sprauge de Camp was a pompous idiot stuck in the 17th century. he's a fascinating, funny guy who loves Better Off Dead, Bubba-Hotep, Bruce Campbell and Buffy. A grand time was had by all.

You know, I really hope that the October 2010 will not end up being a problem for the release of Donaldson's next book. That is also the projected release date for the final volume of the huge (and best selling) Wheel of Time fantasy series. I hope that the piss poor economy recovers so people will have the cash available to buy two big epic fantasy books that month. Because a lot of people might choose the Jordan/Sanderson over the Donaldson if they only have money for one, given that it is the series finale.

(Note, I am not talking hardcore Donaldson fans like at here or the Watch - I am sure that most of them will go for the SRD if money is tight over the WOT book - but the average fantasy fan will probably go the other way).

At this point I am more than half expecting the next Martin book to be coming out at about that time, too.


Then you will have three huge epic fantasy releases coming out within a month or two of each other in expensive hardcover, and who knows how that will screw up sales for Donaldson, as I think that both of the other authors usually sell more than he does (at least for the Finals Chrons).

And Danlo - yes, keep the Lady Tam updates coming, please!!!

Man, am exhausted. So sick of this place and the attendant responsibilities...can't wait to go home for good. Heading back for this weekend though, (but will be running around madly), so will be away from tomorrow night until Tuesday.
