The other day, when I was coming home from work, I noticed that the traffic light a few blocks from my house was off. As I drove further down the block, I realized that all the houses and street lights were dark.

You guessed it - I arrived home to a dark, empty house (not to mention a totally dark neighborhood). I have no idea how long the power was out, but it came back on as I was preparing to take a shower by flashlight.

I'm remaining purposely ignorant of a certain thread there that appears to have exploded in the past couple of days. Sounds like I made the right choice...

The power is back on! The power is back on!!! YAY!!!!

I have running water again! (We have a well, so when the power goes out, we have no running water. Four people using two toilets which cannot be flushed. Running water is a wonderful thing!!!!)

And the first thing I see when I turn on my TV? The Red Wings have signed Hossa! We were not even mentioned among the teams interested in him, so this was a shock!!! Man, the people in Pittsburgh must hate people from Detroit today.

Yay for electricity, Duchess!

The office is sorta like a ghost town today, what with a bunch of folks out in anticipation of the 4th of July. Traffic was light, too; I've been leaving early this week (to drive Magickmaker to work -- training starts at 7am 8O ) and so I've been getting to work about a half-hour early. I'm pooped. Can't wait for the long weekend.... We've been joking all day that the powers-that-be might let us go early (riiiiight).

Duchess and MsMary, glad to hear you two have power again.

And while I'm at it, here's wishing you all a happy 4th of July long weekend!

I, kinda, lost my cool--on a certain issue at the Watch-so I'm hiding and keeping my mouth shut. It can suck being an admin over there but here we're safe, for now.

At least the tilers are here today grouting half the new floor and the washer/dryer room-so we can hook those guys up and do laundry at home, finally!

Don't know what happened to our American flag emo...but have a very happy and safe 4th!~

Sounds like Moonwather has a wonderful Canada Day this year at the Zoo - and I'm hoping all of the Americans have a wonderful Independence day tomorrow!

I feel blessed - nearly all of my coworkers still do not have power at their houses from last night's storm.

As for the Watch thing, whatever madness is going on over there - it will pass and in two weeks everyone will come together just like a dysfunctional family and once again be claiming everyone there is nice and perfect and wonderful, and that bad things and people never happen. Until the next uproar, of course.

Spent a good chunk of the day watching the Men's Final at Wimbledon - they didn't finish until after 9:00 PM London time! It was certainly one of the best men's finals I've seen. Nadal and Federer were amazing: the quality of the tennis did not let up to the very end. I kinda regret I didn't tape it now.

Hey, I'm back guys. And I brought my Dune, Dune Encyclopedia, and my EarthSea Quartet with me.

So we can get the reads back on track.

Sorry for the hiatus, things been a bit crazy lately...should be settling down nowish though.

Classic match, very good-I knew this year would be the changing of the guard, and Nadal's only 22! I am trying very hard not to ban myself from the Watch, but will attempt a two week boycott--to, at least, get my point to someone. Tam has to see the Dr. and Chiropractor again today. She pinched a nerve in her neck and pulled two muscles in her back lugging Elora's suitcase, car seat and Elora around for 13 hrs (two rain delays) on her journey from Tampa to Houston to Albq. She's on a very intense muscle relaxer so she's either sleeping or lost in her own world. I'm very concerned as it has been a week and a half.

Sheesh, hope things get better for her soon man.

Actually, the Watch has been annoying the hell out of me recently too. Wish everybody would just shut up, chill out, and get over themselves. *sigh* Am doing my best, really.
