I'm sure it's not the same thing. I doubt any sequels were written to the one I read. (I don't know who wrote it either.) Two giant, aware computers at opposite ends of the expanding universe decide that they will live forever if they can prevent the contraction of the universe - Big Bang/Big Crunch/BB/BC idea. Which they indend to accomplish by some law of physics or other that negates the effect of gravity for certain masses that they perform something or other on. *Whew* Various beings go to great lengths, even at the cost of their lives, to try to get things back to normal.
