I got all five books for Damelon today when we were Christmas shopping. Hopefully he will get a chance to read them soon. ****************************************************** Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell |

Go Damelon! Go Damelon! Go Damelon! ____________ Highdrake's mastery of spells and sorcery was not much greater than his pupil's, but he had clear in his mind the idea of something very much greater, the wholeness of knowledge. And that made him a mage. |

Shadow is going to start reading them as well. I told him how peaceful they were and how I'm sure he is going to love them. ********* "And the glory of the world becomes less than it was." |

Indeed, no choice what so ever. There is a peace to these books that I find very appealing. When I sit down to read them I am instantly absorbed into their serenity. Right now, I am in the middle of "The Farthest Shore." And I think Furls said it best..."It's like reading a dream". I love the character of Ged, and now Arren and I love the dragons. I should be done with them all soon. |

You know, its a bit funny, but some of the most memorable (and new to me -- well, I HAD read part of Earthsea a long time ago, but this is the first time I have finished the series) fantasy I have read in the past few months are all technically Young Adult -- the Earthsea books, Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy, and now Pullman's His Dark Materials...I dunno, with a few exceptions like Martin and Williams a lot of the adult fantasy out there (Jordan, Goodkind, Brooks, et al) being written right now just seems to be too formulaic...for the unique and meaningful I think I am going to have to spend more time in the teen section of the bookstore... ****************************************************** Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell |

Hard for quality stuff like Earthsea to NOT get a bit of quality action. ____________ Highdrake's mastery of spells and sorcery was not much greater than his pupil's, but he had clear in his mind the idea of something very much greater, the wholeness of knowledge. And that made him a mage. |
