chapter 16 Sansa
Sansa feels a little less alone now that the Tyrells have come to King's Landing. When a seamstress comes in to measure her for new clothing, she feels that Maegery is behind it, though she is told that it is Cersei who has ordered the new clothes. None of her old ones fit anymore, so she feels quite grateful to Margaery.
Quote:Margaery's kindness had been unfailing, and her prescence changed everything. Her ladies welcomed Sansa as well. It had been so long since she had enjoyed the company of other women, she has almost forgotten how pleasant it could be.
Sansa has begun to grow up in some important ways. When she compares herself to the other girls her age Quote:They are children, Sansa thought,. They are silly little girls, even Elinor. They've never seen a battle, they've never seen a man die, they know nothing. Their dreams were filled with songs and stories, the way hers had been before Joffrey cut her father's head off. Sansa pitied them. Sansa envied them.
Sansa worries for her new friend having to marry Joffrey. When Margaery takes her hawking, Sansa again warns her of Joff's cruelty. Margaery tells her not to worry, and reminds her that if she marries her older brother Willas, they will be sisters.
She dreams of marrying Willas, dreams of being safe, wonders if her husband will ever come to love her after she bares him children. Quote:If I give him sons, he may come to love me. She would name them Eddard and Brandon and Rickon, and raise them to be as valiant as Ser Loras. And to hate the Lannisters, too. In Sansa's dream her children looked just like the brothers she had lost. Sometimes there was even a girl who looked like Arya. She dreams of marriage and laps full of puppies and traveling with Willas on a pleasure barge while listening to music, and lots and lots of babies.
She tells Ser Dontos that she would be going to Highgarden to marry Willas and he nearly panics and tells her that she MUST go to Joff's wedding and wear her silver hairnet. She tells him again that she has no need to escape now, but he doesn't seem to undertand.
And yet, Sansa still feels threatened by Joff.Quote:Once she dreamed it was still her marrying Joff, not Margaery, and o nheir wedding night he turned into the headsman Ilyn Paine. She awoke trembling. At this point she decides to start praying and lighting candles for the Tyrells. Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

chapter 17 Arya

Arya is traveling with Gendry and some of the Brotherhood. Hot Pie has stayed behind at the Inn to become a baker's boy. Aray believes that they are traveling to Riverrun to join her mother and Robb. Therefore, she worries when she notices that the moss on the trees seems to indicate that they are going south.
She tells Harwin, the man from Winterfell most of what has happened to her.Quote:...but she left out the stableboy she'd stabbed with Needle, and the guard whose throat she'd cut to get out of Harrenhall. Telling Harwin would be almost like telling her father, and some things she could not bear having her father know. Nor did she speak of Jaqen H'ghar and the three deaths he'd owed and paid. She still holds the iron coin at night and chants the list of those she wants dead.
In turn, Harwin tells her of how he came to be with the Brotherhood. Lord tywin Lannister has set a trap for Ned Stark, using the mountain as bait. Jaime hadn't known his father's plans and captured Ned himself. Because Ned's leg had been broken he sent Lord Beric instead, with rwentu Winterfell men and twenty of Beric's men. A priest names Thoros and others also accompanied them. Out of the sixty men, only about twenty were alive after battling against the Mountain, and Lord Beric had been gravely wounded. Thoros prayed over him all night and somehow he lived. By then the fighting has passed them by. The survivors then heard of the deaths of Robert and Ned Quote:That turned the whole world on its head. We'd been sent out by the King's Hand to deal with outlaws, you see, but now we were the outlaws, and Lord Tywin was the Hand of the King. There were some that wanted to yield then, but Lord Beric wouldn't hear of it. We were still the King's men, he said, and these were the King's people the lions were savaging. If we couldn't fight for Robert, we would fight for them, until every man of us was dead.
Arya eventually realizes that they ARE going south, in the wrong direction for Riverrun. She is told that she is being taken to Lord beric, as with all high born captives. She tries to run away, but Harwin catches her. When she asks if he is her father's man, he tells her flatout that her father is dead and he now belongs to Beric, the Lightning Lord. Sansa's "claim" dost hang over her...not matter how nice the House of Flowers is 2 her this politicing, this game of thrones never seems 2 end...

The "Brotherhood w/o Banners" is quite cool and somewhat understandable in such a war torn region. Is it akin 2 the Merrymen in Sherwood forest as ur poll asks? If so Tom O' Sevens def is Will Scarlet--and 4 some reason, prob just his physique, I already c Gendy as Little John. The priest is the one who freaks me... And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.
