Ahira's Hangar

Chapter 8 is a Dany chapter, which I will tackle tonight. I will leave Bran for now. If someone else wants to tackle his chapter tomorrow, please feel free. Otherwise I will talk about Bran tomorrow night.

When we catch up with the young queen , she is on a ship with her few followers, and her three faithful bloodriders (who are extremely unhappy to be at sea, along with their horses). She, of course, is also with her babies!

Her three kids are doing well on this voyage. They have learned to hunt rats and flying fish and all three have learned to fly! Dany has begun making friends with the man she knows as Arstan Whitebeard, who claims to have met her father and older brother Rhaegar. She questions him about her lost family members and likes to hear his stories of Rhaegar, the bookish boy turned warrior. The growing friendship between Whitebeard and Dany makes Ser Mormont worried and jealous. He brings up the topic of Dany being too trusting several times.

Every man I take into my sevice is a risk, I understand that, but how am I to win the Seven Kingdoms without such risks? Am I to conquer Westeros with one exile knight and three Dothraki bloodriders?"

Mormont advises her to travel to the city of Astapor in the area called Slaver's Bay, where she can buy slave fighters called Unsullied, who are among the most feared fighters in the world. When Dany protests that she has little of worth to trade for slaves, Mormont suggests that she use the cargo (which does not belong to her) to trade. In the end she agrees to this.

As we leave Dany in her journey, Mormont points out to her that the Dragon needs three heads, or her three dragons will need three riders, herself and two husbands! He then comes on to her sexually and offers himself as one of those husbands (yuck yuck yuck yuck!!!!). Thanks 4 filling in Duchess! It is rather appropriate 2 have "Mother of Dragons" starting this particular read. Dany is a sexy little creature isn't she? (No wonder calibaby waited up 4 u last night! **snicker**) All the things Martin has hinted @, that almost seem like myths, begin 2 come 2 life in ASOS: greendreams, skinchangers, Giants, aurochs u name it! And now the dragons r flying!? Hey mayb this is really IS a fantasy series!! If it wasn't 4 the wrights and Melisandre he could have fooled me...what's next? Out in the open magic? And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Seems to me there's been outright magic before now. The shapeshifting guy back at Harrenhall comes to mind. And the whole birth of the dragons, along with what happened in the House of Warlocks. Personally, I like how Martin has worked magic in the series. Not too pyrotechnic, but impressive in its own ways with a heavy price to pay in the using (Varys' story still gives me the shivers).

Myself I suspect magic might well heal Tyrion's withered body. But the way that might happen would probably be...icky. Just a thought. <i></i>

Exactly, to use heavy duty magic, you have to pay a heavy duty price. To save Khal Drogo, Dany lost her baby. For the birth of the dragons, three lives had to be lost, one for each life brought forth.

As we rejoin Bran and his small entourage, he is running in the mind and heart of Summer, his great direwolf. He/they refer to him/themselved as the prince in their intermingled thoughts. Unlike his physical existence in his broken body, while intertwined in Summer, Bran can run free, hunt, and even fight with his smaller wolf cousins. To Bran and Summer, Summer is the Prince of the Green, Prince of the Wolfwood and Bran is the Prince of Winterfell, heir to House Stark, and trueborn heir to the Kings of the North.

Bran, his faithful servant Hodor, and the two Reed kids are staying in a ruined tower, hiding from enemies. Bran is trying to learn how to better use his warg powers, but being in the mind of Summer is so exhilirating to him, that he goes along with Summer, rather than trying to control him. And as Summer, he can feel the rest of his pack!Quote:His angry brother with the hot green eyes was near, the prince felt, though he had not seen him for many hunts. Jojen Reed is worried because Bran has great potential power as a warg. he sees Bran as a winged wolf chained to the earth, who must learn how to fly, but feels that he, as a dreamer of true dreams, is not the right teacher for Bran, a potential greenseer. He worries because Bran loses himself inside Summer's mind rather than learning to control him. Jojen wants Bran to go north, to find the Three Eyed Crow he has dreamed of, and let the crow become the powerful teacher that Bran needs.

The Reeds decide to let Bran, their prince, make the decision of where they should go -- north of the Wall to find his teacher or else go forth to find safety with some of King Robb's allies. In the end, with tears in his eyes, Prince Bran decides Quote:"I want to fly," he told them."Please. Take me to the crow." So do u guys think Whitebeard and who else, is it Strong Belwas? (I can't help but pronounce it Bell-waazzz, I love that name--like SRD, Martin is a great name creator! ) are assasins? Have they show any signs? Not really...didn't they actually rescue Dany from an attempt on her life? And now Danlo looked in that direction, too.
