Of course, while just finishing A Game of Thrones, I can't really speak 4 the rest of the series--but Martin is cold baby!
Well after all winter is coming so he should b cold! I can tell u 1 thing though there is no fluff in his writting style he is raw, real and merciless! The graphic, surgical, way he goes about detailing warfare's cuts, maims and depravity. The raw sexuality and emotional rollercoasters are definately NOT 4 the fainthearted. It may be Fantasy but, man, this is the real thing--these are things that have happened between men (and women) from the dawn of time both in our world and Martin's. He is an incredible storyteller, but I'll tell you one thing: if you can't handle a juggernaut of razorsharp knives rolling at u on a regular basis-get the hell out of the kitchen! (I'd start spoiling if I went any futher) The true human being is the meaning of the universe. He is a dancing star. He is the exploding singularity with infinite possibilities.

While reading the part in SOS called the Red Wedding, I actually screamed! Don't want to spoil anymore, though, so I'll leave it at that! my sister, o my sister! There's the cause on 't. During the Red Wedding I think it might be the only time I ever screamed while reading a book. I think it might also be the only time I've ever thrown a book across a room into a wall and jumped up and own on it in sheer fury, too. Good thing I had it in a sturdy hardcover edition!
And then, of course, I had to reread it again ten times just so I could believe that Martin actually did THAT. But each time it kept saying the same things... >
I really truly hope certain characters, especially one in particular are either eaten by Nymeria or turned into dragon begging strips.

Drogon, DACAERYS!!! Ankh-Morpork people considered that spelling was a sort of optional extra. They believed in it the same way they believed in punctuation; it didn't matter where you put it, so long as it was there.~Terry PratchettEdited by: Duchess of Malfi at: 1/22/03 12:26:39 pm

Screw this, I'm buying ASOS 2mrrw! And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Ahira, Ahira, he called out silently to the sky. Ahira, Ahira

Second best set of books out there at the moment. ASOS will really rip you up Danlo, if you thought Martin had gone mental with ACOK. I smoke Mc's, not Crack

Earthblood I would start with only Game of Thrones and see whether or not you like it first. Martin can be a bit...brutal. His writing is not to everyone's tastes.

Brutal

Aye that he is - if you like brutal I'd have a look at Erikson's Tales of the Malazan I smoke Mc's, not Crack
