I just read - pored - over the opening chapter of AATE at http://www.stephenrdonaldson.com. It's a knockout! With each successive book of the Last Chronicles, SRD seems to get sharper, more into his "zone." The trailer is good, too - simple but quite fitting (or "condign" to use an SRD word). The imagery gives me goosebumps. |

Guess I have to be a dissenter. I found that chapter to be a tease. Yeah, it is a tease. For me anyway. I fully respect others' opinions. Guess I just wish that with the Final Chrons half done at the start of this book, the author might be a bit more forthcoming and a little less mysterious. But again, that is a personal thing. |

I love all things SRD. I ESPECIALLY LOVE the Thomas Covenant Series of books. That being said, I won't be reading the first chapter of AATE until October when the book is released in it's entirety. (sp) It has been a long year or so since Fatal Revenant, and the next two months are really going to drag by, but that just makes the reading all the better for me I wish I could write as well as the worst Sci-Fi/Fantasy writer out there today. Stephen R. Donaldson puts most of them to shame. He is up there with Tolkien, Piers Anthony, Anne McCaffrey, Joel Rosenberg, J. K. Rowling, and Christopher Paolini to name a few. The list is short and distinguished, but their credits are amazing to us, their fans! |
