The Man Who Tried to Get Away is the third book in Donaldson's mystery series.
It begins very shortly after the seond book, The Man Who Risked His Partner. In fact, Brew is still in a great deal of pain and his hospitalized at University Hospital in Puerta del Sol (a very thinly disguised Albuquerque) as a result of the injury he suffered in the previous book.
Brew begins getting anonymous phone calls while in the hospital, warning him that El Senor, the local crime lord, is seeking his death (as a result of events in the second book).
Ginny finds what she believes is a quiet place for them to go hide -- taking on the security for a week long mystery camp at a lovely lodge up in the high mountains.
But Brew is in incredible pain, and can barely even dress himself.
And a snowstorm moves in, stranding all of the people at the Lodge -- and then the real murders start. ******************************************************
