I just shook hands with Stephen R. Donaldson!!! I'm dead serious--I've almost passed out 4 times in the last 2 hours---I can't compose myself! I met him at the movies--he and his family were watching Minority Report at the downtown theater in Albuquerque. As many of u know, or don't know, I live in Albq. and SRD lives nearby in Corrales NM. I started watching the previews and a family of 3 sat down just 2 my left in the row below. The dad was skinny, had puffy white hair, glasses and a little white goatee. I said 2 myself damm that guy looks familiar! I looked @ him from time 2 time and remembered the very brief time I met him @ a seminar @ UNM in '86 and said omg that's Stephen R. Donaldson!!!--he was very interested in the preview 4 Solaris and was intensely watching the futuristic effects in MR. I left the theater just as the movie ended--when the family finally came out I followed them down the sidewalk. As I approached I said "Excuse me sir!" and his wife turned around and looked @ me with laser beams eyes as if 2 say "get lost, drop dead". SRD slowly turned around and said "Yes can I help you?" I gave him my name and said "I'm sorry 2 disturb u and ur family but r u Stephen Donaldson?" He said yes and "I said thank you, thank u very much 4 everything u've done." as we shook hands, I swear I felt a bolt of lightning pass between us. Then he said "You're very kind" and I let them go. When his wife looked at me I swear I was looking @ Linden Avery!! His daughter is about 12 or 13, long brown hair and very beautiful. I kno u guys would have wanted me 2 ask him a million questions but he said I could write him through his publisher and that he would remember me. I let them go 4 2 reasons 1st of all I was totally star-struck and 2nd I didn't want 2 disturb his family outing on a beautiful Saturday night..God! my idol I just can't believe it--I mean I personally met him instead of going down the row @ the seminar and just saying thank u...
