Thought I'd give a little summary of each story as I read it (I'm working through them right now.)

Comes Now the Power
A man loses his special mental powers after undergoing a nasty divorce. He seeks out someone who can help him regain what he has lost...

For a Breath I Tarry
A very enjoyable story that is somewhat based on the Biblical story of Job, but with some very interesting twists. It also has some strong overtones of Faust. I really liked it.

I've read Permaforst a long time ago! Please refesh! Thanks! And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Ahira, Ahira, he called out silently to the sky. Ahira, Ahira<i>Edited by: danlo60 at: 7/13/03 10:01 am

I haven't gotten to that one yet, but will be very happy to when I do.

The main character of For a Breath I Tarry was an AI named Frost. That was a really good story!

Engine at Heartspring's Center
A very sad story about a cyborg...

Halfjack
The story of a starship pilot, I also liked this one a lot... Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

Home is the Hangman
A very thought provoking story about an AI unit used to explore outer space and of his four human "parents"... Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

Permafrost
a very odd story of an unusual revenge of a woman upon a man, set upon a frigid planet where winter lasts for 50 years...

Loki 7281
a story told from the POV of Zelazny's computer, who ghostwrites his novels and controls his life...and who is the ringleader of a bunch of sentient computers who plot against their masters...

Mana from Heaven
This one seems almost a rehearsal for the second Amber chronicles. There is an immortal sorcerer who has a mysterious enemy trying to kill him for unknown reasons...and a human girl with the potential to be a sorceress... Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell

24 Views of Mt. Fuji, by Hokusai

A story which very much deserves its Hugo Award. And the first thing I've read by Zelazny from a woman's POV! And he did a great job with it -- I wish he had used a female POV more often! It tells the story of Mari, a terminally ill woman who has come on a pilgrimage to Mt. Fuji in Japan, and who must prepare herself both emotionally and psychologically to confront a most interesting stalker...

Come Back to the Killing Ground, Alice, My Love

An assassin is hired by a cloned woman to destroy the pocket universe created by her originator's dead husband's AI devise -- but all is NOT what it seems...
