Mayen has become a violent drug addicted rapist. She has beaten Feather Witch nearly to death.

The Witch King tells Rhulad that there are Edur on other worlds. Rhulad says that they will build great ships to travel from wordl to world - perhaps flooding worlds without water with flood waters from worlds with water. tehy will open gates between worlds and flood the worlds, so they can travel by ship.

The Warlock King also tells Rhulad that Udinass is possessed by the Wyval, according to Feather Witch. As Unidaas is Rhulad's only trusted friend and link to sanity, this is pretty upsetting to Rhulad. Rhulad orders everyone but Udinaas out, then orders a wraith to examine Udinaas for blood poisoning/possession. the wraith happens to be the one who hides in Udinaas's shadow, so of course tells Rhulad that the slave is clear.

Rhulad and Udinaad then have a remarkably honest conversation about Mayen being broken, and Udinaas wanting Feather Witch, who despises him. Udinaas tells Rhulad to send for his mother so she can help the pregnant and drug addled Mayen. And he promises that he will always be there for Rhulad.

Seren and the Crimson Guard people are traveliing to Letheras. Seren is having a really rough tiem in the emotional aftermath of being gang raped.
