Ahira's Hangar

Feather Witch admits to Unidaas that Mayen has been raping and otherwise physically and sexually abusing her. Now I hate this particular character, but no character deserves that sort of treatment...Unidaas tells her that Rhulad, while not good in bed, is not rough and physically/sexually cruel like that towards Mayen. Unidaas points out to Feather Witch that she would like to be every bit as cruel to him as Mayen is towards her, complete with the biting, though obviously not the sex, as she is too good for him in that way in her own mind.

The Edur are moving their way towards the city where Seren is on an epic bender.

Some true badasses from a group we heard a lot about in Night of Knives, the Crimson Guard, show up and want to hire her. They tell her that her people are in serious trouble, and she needs to sober up and get the hell out of here as fast as she can.

Some Letharii mages try to take on the old water god the Edur have called back from oblivion. The water god is much too strong for them, though, and they are destroyed.

Seren wakes up in a cellar. She has been robbed and gang raped. Her rapists come back, using the body of a dead child as a shield. The Crimson Guard badasses show up and kill everyone except for Seren.

Some of the Edur invading army shows up at that point, including Rhulad.

So for good measure, the CG badasses kill all of them, too.

Killing Rhulad was not good. He goes back to the Crippled God's island, then is sent back to his body once more, where everyone around watches him come back to life.

While everyone is busy watching Rhulad die then come back, the Crimson Guard and Seren escape through a Warren gate. They end up in the Hold of Darkness, the Hold that had belonge to the Tiste Andii. A Tiste Andii spirit agrees to be their guide if they will throw a ring that binds her spirit into the ocean when they get out.

Seren and the badasses do throw the ring into the ocean.

The Tiste Andii's body had died there long ages ago, and she wanted her spirit returned there so she could finally find oblivion. Instead the Crippled God, wanting to make his sword smith happier, brings her back to life and brings her to his island, so she can be a mate for the sword smith. She is not human, but she is apparently close enough...

Rather than being happy, the swordsmith begins to pray to Mael, god of the oceans.
