Seren and her trader have made it back to Letharii lands just before the war breaks out.
Seren shows that the bedrock of her being is simple decency when she tries to stop a cadre of military mages from pouring a deadly magical attack upon Edur villages -an attack designed to kill noncombatives and take the heart out of the enemy.
She is very upset when the attack goes forward, and the trader she has been guiding drugs her to knock her out. His last words to her are of how he has always loved her. When she comes to many hours later, she goes to his house and finds he has committed suicide.
The Edur , with the warnings and information from Hull, had evacuate all of their villages, which the Letharri have now destroye through magery. Now the entire people have no choice but to move on and conquer Letharri lands for new homes.
Rhulad has called forth the wolf soletaken from the ice. They worship the sword and are now his allies.
Unidaas and the ever irritating Feather Witch have a shared vision of T'Lan Imass. In a previous vision, a draconic goddess had sexually used Unidaas, and in this vision he meets their resulting son, living with the Imass.
The local commander of the Letharri called Fent Reach surrenders to the Edur without a fight.
