Rhulad is dead, and is pulled to the island hideout of the Crippled God.
The Cripples God says that the Warlock King betrayed him, by not wanting to go to war. So Rhulad has the gift instead. And with each death, Rhulad will gain in power.
In the meantime, Rhulad's body has been returned to the village. No one can still get the sword out of his hand. His parents and the king get into a huge arguement over whetehr or not to mutilate his body to free the sword.
It is finally decided that Unidaas the slave will rpepare the body while the others negotiate.
So Unidaas coats the body with layers of gold coins and wax, in the way of the Edur.
After a day and a night, the camp hears horrible screaming.
In a scene worthy of a horror flick, Rhulad's body has come back to life.
And the only one able to comfort him or calm him is the slave Unidaas.
