We go back to the Edur village of the Warlock King for this chapter. Seren and the others in her party have come to the village. Their slaves, from one of the races conquored by the Letharii, are getting sick from anxiety. Mayen the Edur maiden betrothed to the eldest Sengar son, blesses the slaves to make them welcome and to make them feel better. This seems to be an unprecedented act from a pure blood highborn Edur virgin. Unidass continues to have visions of the far past. The Witch King and some of the Letharii have a meeting and decide not to go to war at this time. Feather Witch cats her tiles in a slave meeting at the same time. What she sees sounds to be all wrong and impossible. |

Just a quick note to say a big THANK YOU to Duchess for posting these chapter summaries. I have been struggling through this book and it is only just starting to spark my interest. These summaries are great and help me to keep focussed. This, and the fact that some previous Malazan books have taken a while to get going but have had immense rewards, are the reasons why I'm ploughing on... So, thanks
