He realized that on some deep level, the grains and pulses and other vegetable foods that he had eaten for so many years had never truly satisfied him. Always, buried in the tissues of his heart and belly, there had burned a deep desire to consume the meat of another animal and to taste the marvelous tang of blood once more. War in Heaven, p. 387.

Hmm. Luci keeps saying that this book gives important info and everybody should read it. But it sounds like the odds that I would throw it across the room in frustration/disgust are pretty high. So I think I'll be content to live in ignorance on certain things....

God knows when I'll find the book... Is Laseen's First Sword someone we've heard of??

Dassem Ultor? Well, there's certainly mysteries about him. At least as far as I'm concerned, although Murrin probably knows it all. It will be good to read this book eventually.

Heh. Well, I guess not replying would be conspicuous, and might be taken as a teensy sort of spoiler.

True enough. But still, don't you think you should read RG and TtH?

Yeah, but it's clearly marked Spoilers for NoK, not all books. So everybody kindly keep it under wraps unless you want to start threads for other books that are marked Spoilers.

And yes, I certainly understand the need to refresh before going on. I did start my chronological reread. Only into the beginning of MT. heh

I started a chronological re-read last year and burned out after about book 5. Then I skipped ahead to re-read RG before TtH came out. I'm *sure* I'm still missing stuff. In fact, I dunno that the re-read helped me all that much, frankly. There are just too many freakin' plot lines, and too many little hints in book X that don't pay off 'til book X+5. I'd need a notebook thicker than all the Malazan books together to keep it all straight.
