While we do most of our shopping at the usual suspects like Kroger and Meijers, sometimes for extra special "foodie" treats we love to go to:
Trader Joe's (lots of organic goodness - great teas!)
Whole Foods (unbelievable organic meat and produce sections, too expensive for everyday shopping, though
- and the imported cheeses are
)
Cost Plus World Market (very cool imported stuff - great Spanish wines, Scottish cookies, British and Irish teas, scone mixes, Aussie outback honeys, Italian pastas)
I think all three of those are nationwide chains.
The closest ones to me are in Ann Arbor, so it is a drive, so they really are for "special treat" shopping.
The other ones would be the local cider mills and/or orchards in the autumn, and the dairy out in Carlton. And one of my favorite local places would be the orchard/veggie farm stand right across the street from my house.
And let us not forget the local farmer's markets, either.
(or my own herb/veggie garden).
So does anyone else have any "special food shopping" locations?
